When you watch Cayman GT4 and 991GT3s walk away on the ups and downshifts, you can understand the need to put the pride away and use the available tech to compete. All the props for those who can do the "heel/toe dance". But I will say this... (see full post)
@Bill Pemberton I am trying out the new Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 V2 by Bridgestone. My tire guy said a few guys have started running them on their street cars and the tires are holding up. For the track, they get a little greasy when they get... (see full post)
I've been watching this thread with interest as to me it appears to be an American thing to use "artificial" heel/toe addons. I've never known they were even a thing till this forum. My guess was the propensity for automatic transmissions and big... (see full post)
Still prefer heel and toe, it is a tango that has your shifter as your dance partner and I always felt learning it well was what helped me keep my transmissions alive. My Mach 1 had a factory blip shift and I never really cared for it. Yes I am...
I talked this over with a former Ford engineer who still runs in A sedan, unless the motor is really modded, he doesn't recommend getting rid of the cam phasers for the reasons stated above. They are pretty bullet proof (the Ford ones, not the...
You are in PA., why not take it over to Phoenix Performance, LLC in Phoenixville, PA., as they have a ton of experience with S197s having fielded a boat load of " National Champion " Mustangs in SCCA!!phoenixperformancellc.com
I do not have the handling pack, just the base dark horse, but the base DH does have the same diff cooling system.Talked with a shop tech and confirmed the sound is from the diff cooler electric pump running- which turns on based on the ecu &...
Depends on which cam you choose. I just installed the #500 cam which requires springs and limiters. It’s a lot more lift than stock so when Comp says phaser limiters are required I believe them. Sounds nasty see my build thread. I have had it... (see full post)
Welcome to the FR500S club. See my posts. Sachs will rebuild the coil overs for $400 each.I haven’t had any trouble with engine overheating. These cars were raced in some hot climate. If you have an overheat issue I would find the source... (see full post)
Spot On @TeeLew ... You're numbers for the rear are extremely close to what I was able to research on the forums, Factory Mach 1 HP rear coil spring rate = 742 #/inch, Front Mach 1 HP coil spring original equipment = 211 #/inch. We had...

For reference, I think @cjatrains has a front spring rate of about 310 #/in once all-in with the spring rubber. That probably ramps to 330 or so as it compresses, because that's what spring rubbers do. These are guesses, but it will give an idea...
Not sure about that part. I've never experienced that myself. It could be your vent is dirty/clogged? Super cheap part so might be worth replacing as a just in case thing. Then again, it'd probably clean up easily enough if it is clogged.I...

Didn’t seem to react when switching between modes and the stock M1 controller just felt better in track mode. Full transparency I did buy it used but sent it Steeda to be tested, they said it was working as expected.
Thanks, appreciate the feedback. I went down the Steeda dual rate springs and matching bars along with their DSC controller path. I ran the DSC one weekend and swapped back to the OE controller as I was suspicious it wasn’t functioning. I’m...
I just finished cutting my rear Stock Mach 1 HP rear coil springs 9 mm to take some of the "rake" out of the chassis. I can't provide any feedback on whether it's better/worse or no change as my next track day is at Watkins Glen 7/13 and 7/14...
