Nice pictures for comparison. The 305/660R18 G5000 has a 11.75” section width, compared to the R7’s 12.5”.

But, change to the 305/680R18 G5000, and the section witdth goes up by approx 1.5” to 13.13 on an 18x12 wheel.

So, I encourage board members to check the published dimensions before ordering. While a 305, the G5500s I ordered are 12.75” wide. And, even though they are a 680, they are only .33” bigger in diameter than my current 660 Pirelli DH.

(20567) 305/680R18 G5000. WAAAAY bigger than Pirellis of the same size. I hope they fit. I will likely save these for the hot summer days since the compound and construction is geared more towards durability. I'm also hoping the 1" wider tread (Than Pirellis) can help mitigate a less-grippy compound. I wasn't aware that the 5500 was a softer compound when ordering. According to the rep at Hoosier 5000 is very similar to R7 compound. The 5000 reinforced carcass may be well suited to my full weight road car.

rehagen/khor ran 305 645 r18 on all 4 corners on the fr500c cars . I just bought set of 4 305 650 r18 .this is a great deal thanks for passing it on . chris

My set of 305-660-18's just got in yesterday. Couldn't believe how much wider they are compared to my Pirelli DH's mounted on 10" rims. I had test fit an older 305-660-18 Conti GT-I in the front before on Forgestar 42 offset wheels with good clearance. Not so sure about clearance issues with these.

Damn those things are huge

I have a set of the 285 slicks and they are the same width as my Pirelli 305s! 3/4" shorter but def just as wide. I'll grab pics tonight

15237279454395999107148060187500.jpg Had 2 tires mounted on 18 X 10 X 42 Forgestar wheels to check front clearance. Good news is the tires clear. My car is all stock with trimmed front sway bar link bolts. Bad news is my tires shrank when they mounted them. Here's a comparison to unmounted tires. Hard to believe they are the same tires. Guess I need to get a set of 11 inch wheels.

Glad I found this thread.

Just ran the continental G5000 after two sets of pirelli slicks and my times dropped off.

The continentals last wayyyyy longer but I know I lost 2-3 seconds at Laguna easily.

I have a set of the G5500 as well and will try those out next weekend.

Depending on that I’ll continue with the g5500 or go back to pirelli

Due to what ? Poor grip? Or did they start the session good and then got greasy? What happened exactly ?

The start of each session was ok. But they never felt nearly as sticky as the pirellis. Apparently their sidewalls are stiffer on the g5000 than the g5500 so maybe they need less camber than the pirellis.

After lap 4/5 they greased and got worse the harder I pushed. Turns that I could power out were now impossible.

Since Laguna is a small course I think they just get overheated too fast.

So perhaps on a larger track with more high speed stuff they would shine.
