Im thinking about changing the front brakes on my 2020 GT500 to smaller ones so that I can run 18 inch rims and better slicks.
I’m looking at the AP racing setup with possibly Hawk pads like I’m running currently.
Anybody have any regrets doing this and how much braking power did you lose if any?

It depends on your needs.

Ford, bless their hearts, made doing what you want to do really easy. The front knuckle on the 2020 GT350R (NOT the 2020 GT350) is exactly the same as the GT500 front knuckle, except it's been machined for the GT350 front brake setup that 19" rims will fit over. Ford did it for exactly one year for exactly one variant of the GT350. I'm positive they did it so GT500 drivers could fit brakes that fit inside smaller wheels. I might be wrong, but it's such a strange coincidence.

So, that GT350R knuckle gives you the option to pick up a brake setup for a GT350/R and put it on your GT500. You can choose from a range of kits, AP Racing, Brembo, Brembo Racing, etc. Or you can go to your local dealership's parts counter (or online) and order a pair of the knuckles, a pair of OEM GT350 front calipers (dark grey or red for the "R" calipers) and a set of assembly bolts, pads and rotors. Lots of options.

@Serpent Stang is the guy to talk to.
He has the fastest gt500 in US. He runs AP RACING brakes.
I think he can take care of you.
Especially if you are planning to reduce weight. This a huge upgrade for the car.
Less consumable costs. Smaller wheels for less weight. Win win.
Thank you. I’ll reach out to him.
