I have nothing with which to lift my Dark Horse. I have even been buying the oil and filter and taking it to the dealer to change (which they do for $22).

I would like the ability to lift the car to swap tires, change alignment, swap camber plates, install brake pads, and so on, you get the idea, but I do not have a shop/garage in which to install a professional two post lift or anything like that.

I was considering installing jacking bars under the car and puchasing a low jack to get under my low car and just using jack stands.

I also see these QuickJack things, but I don't know.

So what do you use? Do you like it? With the benefit of hindsight, what would you do differently if you were starting from square one today?

My driveway is inclined to the point that it's a little dangerous to do work under the car there. Garage is tiny. Wouldn't work for maintenance even if there was room to get the car in there. For that reason, I only have an old scissor jack and haven't gotten anything else. If it requires more than one wheel off the ground I don't do it at home. Fortunately I have access to a lift that I can use elsewhere, so that's usually what I do. But I have to drive a little ways to get to it, and there is a schedule for using it, so it does limit what I can do. Hoping to remedy when an opportunity to change up the house situation presents itself.

If I had the space, I'd probably get my own lift. If I had a proper garage, I'd at least have a hydraulic jack. I do have jackstands. QuickJacks look pretty cool too. And ramps are useful as well. They all have their place depending on what you need to do and where you have to do it.

I bought one of these 17 years ago and it's been great:

It works with a screw drive and gearset which means that it doesn't matter what height you go to, it can't possibly drop the car on you. The car can't change height without you changing it.

Do you have the Steeda jacking rails under your car?

Also, it looks like some kind of little trailer right behind your car?
I used to, but had to take them off the GT when I added the verus fender evacuation kit (the rails are now on my GT350). Since then on the GT I'm just using the ZL1 jack magpad onto a rubber pad and make sure the stands are in the double walled portion of the pinch weld

Been trying to figure this out on the new car myself. Have the jacking rails on my Bullitt super easy to jack up i go right in center of door and the whole car lifts. I got the light weight ZLI lifting pads for this but then i could not figure out if I can use another part of pinch weld to jack it up to put stands under pads. I assume with a pinch weld mag pad that would work. Or just get the jacking rails. I have room for a lift which is something i've needed for years (many vehicles to work on) but the quick jack looks like its portable enough to take to track. But 4 jack stands and a jack is pretty cheap and easy trackside. Question: Can you lift on the pinch weld anywhere with pinch weld adapter?

I have BMR, not Steeda, but yes. I suppose they're not necessary and do add some weight but they make lifting the car a little easier/quicker.

Yeaaaaah, that's a different story. Pulled a tire trailer for maybe two events and then ditched that idea.

That looks like a great portable option. 4000 just barely enough lol

From what I've found on the S550 at least, you can see where the pinch weld is reinforced 2 layers and towards the end its only 1 layer. Not sure what the seams look like on the S650 but I cant imagine its too much different. As long as you use the reinforced section with the adaptor it should be fine

But also jack rails give you the insurance of not having to worry about lining it up perfectly. Theres no downside unless youre chasing the last few pounds of weight saving.

Wow that's a cool lift! Website is a relic!
