Advice on front tire wear New car

It is difficult to find a staggered track tire set up to fit the Dark Horse handling package wheels. I intend to go with an aftermarket square 11" wheel set up eventually. It's just money . . . right? :)
I’ll probably end up with forged 11” square

my forged SVE i got with the michelins is noticeably lighter than stock wheels. Should have just went with 11’s all around but i’m still stuck playing the “stock” game. Which isn’t working

Even with the 11" all around, 305 is likely the better answer long term (with all the cambers). Obviously best answer is use what you have first, then racer math says lighter 11" wheels "save money" :)

There are about 900 better performance options out there in 305 and they are typically going to be slightly less expensive than the more niche 315 size. Don't get hung up on 10mm.

I personally am not a fan of this staggered fitment craze on these pig front heavy cars that aren't really that powerful (relatively, not trying to insult anything). The end doing all the work is the front and they are understeer prone even with camber and everyone gets hung up on staggered fitment bECuASe AlL thE pOwEr!!!!

C8/Lotus/Porsche with 60% rear weight, yeah, Makes sense. Or extreme power/weight, probably.

Well these were 305/315 staggered so I am considering 305 square or 315 square

Also since i need to flip tires at least i can see if the slicks fit mount them up and examine….
Very few tires have a tread width as narrow as the Pirelli Trofeo RS. I think you will find most 305 are wider than Pirelli's 315.

TireRack has the tread width listed as a spec on every tire.

The 305 is only 9.8"

The 315 is only 10.5"

So compare that to the Goodyear Supercar F1 3R, and a 305 is 11.3"

In other words, you have more tread with a Goodyear 305 than with either the 305 or the 315 in the stock Trofeo RS.

You will see this with almost all of the other tires you consider.

The Hoosier Track Attack Race R8 (the R7 improvement/replacement) 315 is a whopping 11.9" - more than two inches wider than the stock Trofeo RS front and about an inch and a half wider than the stock Trofeo RS rear.

The mm rating on the tire, 295, 305, 315, is not accurate for determining tread width touching the track.

Step down to 295 . . . and:
The Continental Extreme Contact Force in 295/30R19 is the same width as the Pirelli Trofeo RS in 315!

Not sure
Well, you got some life out of them. How many track days total on those pads?
25 track sessions approx and some freeway use

Yeah putting a tape on them they seem wider than that but probably gonna try something else for sure

Yep that’s what i’m learning. Track bud runs square hoosier track attack 315’s on a s197 race car and he’s pretty darn quick

A tape is not how it is measured.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, and the tread is noticeably, substantially, wider. If you look at pictures of the Dark Horse in Pirelli's new DOT track tire, the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo Track, manufactured here in Georgia, you will see just by looking at the photos that the tire treads are significantly wider than the Trofeo RS on the same Dark Horse wheels. There are more photos out there in the wild online, but you can see the front tire here:

Nothing like how the Trofeo RS fits.

So DOt tire you can’t use in the street lol. I bet all the organic stuff in it makes it expensive but looks like a good tire if it fits

So how is a tape not able to measure tread width? That makes little sense. They seem to be a little cheaper than the RS so that’s a plus

I have a set of michelins in the same sizes and i put them side by side with the trafeos and they appeared very similar in size. I’ll put a tape to them lol

I'm not much of a fan of the Pirelli stuff and at 40TW, you'll burn through it quickly. What are you looking to do? Find a good 200TW option, IMO. They have damned good grip, don't break the bank and will last a reasonable amount of time. If you're spending $3k/set, you should be on slicks.

Out of curiosity, what do you personally run for tires?

Agreed. They were the stock tires but i bought 2 fronts ($1500) as the rears were acceptable. I’m looking to run on track reliably and fast. The trafeos did that well it seems but expensive and short lived. I think the car needs a setup change and maybe a wheel tire change. I have an event at inde motorsports this month and now i’m thinking I might pass till i get it dialed in. I am open to options on the best 200 tw tire out there. This sport is not for the meek. Last weekend $1500 tires a broken mag ride shock and insurance and event fee and housing race gas etc $$$$$$$$😂🤣
