Hi everyone! I'm a new forum member located in northeast Tennessee. I'm a grandfather to 4 little ones and have fully embraced my mid-life crisis! I've owned many Mustangs through the years, and currently have a 2024 Dark Horse. I'm a member of our regional Mustang club and the Mustang Club of America. Speaking of, I'm looking forward to tracking my DH at Road Atlanta for MCA's 50th anniversary in August. Happy to have found you all! :cool:

Thanks, and I agree 100%! You're only as old as you feel..... and the handling package with 500 horses under my right foot make me feel pretty dang young!!! ;)

Hi all, I've been reading (and learning) from a number of posts on here, and decided to finally join.

I've wanted to do track driving since I was a kid (when Fox body Mustangs were new...), but started about 4-5 years ago in a resurrected IT7 FB RX-7 that a friend used to race and had been sitting for some time. Tremendously fun car and great to get started with, but very slow. I had a hiatus for a bit after Heartland Park shut down, and then got back into it last year in a Fiat 500 Abarth, Factory Five Mk4 Roadster (Shelby Cobra replica) that I built, and an S550 GT PP.

In January I decided to buy a new Dark Horse Handling Package 6-speed, found a leftover 25 that was exactly what I would order if I ordered one from the factory, and pulled the trigger.

So far this year I've done a total of 9 track days with the car, almost entirely at Ozarks International Raceway. I also did the Dark Horse Track Attack, so that makes for a 10th track day (sort of).

For now the car is stock other than having added a harness. I use the car as a street car as well as a track car, so any mods I do will be with the intent of not compromising the ability to drive it on the street.

Long term, my goal is to get into wheel to wheel racing, although the exact series/car/etc. is TBD. That I don't intend to do with my Dark Horse.

Looking forward to participating in the group.
 
With the tracks you are running how close to KC are you?

In Olathe myself. There is a great event in Hastings, NE in mid August if you are interested; Mustang Round-up

I live just south of Olathe - between Spring Hill and Paola. I've also run several days at Hedge Hollow, and last fall did a run down to Texas for Eagles Canyon.

I haven't been to Hastings yet, but want to. I may see if I can make that event.

You need to make it to Hastings as it is a riot and there will be plenty of folks from Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota and Colorado . Those States are listed because you have a good chance to meet some of the guys who will likely be running some of the courses you do. Throw in all the folks from Illinois, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming and more and you will find the Mustang Roundup is a big event for Mustangs everywhere in the Midwest. Plus there will be Ford Engineers coming down from Dearborn so this is a crazy party.

You will enjoy it even more as everything is close ( restaurants, bars, gas stations ) and with everything easy to get to it makes it a cinch to hang with participants. There are hookups for RVs on site and even showers , so some folks can hang at the site the entire period. No slope like at OIR ( cuz it is pretty flat, ha ) so easy to park too with no worries your trailer will roll away, hehe.
 
Easy to park at Hastings, there is 100 Octane race gas 1/4 down the street for those that want it. Showers on site ( no charge ) and a small Clubhouse for some meals and get togethers is another plus.
