Hello everybody,

New member from northern Sweden here. Long time musclecar fan and musclecar owner. I always liked the looks of the S197 and finally purchased a nice, low-mileage satin silver 2006 Mustang GT beginning of this season.

I was looking for information on another Mustang forum and was advised to join this forum as it clearly holds a lot of technical experience. So I will for sure ask some questions and also try to contribute with my knowledge. I never worked professionally with any kind of race cars, but I spent the last 30 years as a motorcycle roadrace engineer.

Welcome!
Your experience with motorcycles will be invaluable here, as my buddy with the speedway bike says, "Its all the same, you just convert the controls from twist grip to pedal on the floor everything else follows."

That is one " Swede " ride ---------sorry for the really bad pun but we are glad to have you here. Sweden has always been a strong area for Mustangs and glad you found this site.

Hello:

New to the forum. I bought a '17 GT new back in... 2017. Car does not get driven much(about 12K on the odometer) and I am considering some AutoX and HDPE stuff. It has a few mods plus a Procharger. Next on the list are wheels and tires as the OEM wheels are stale.

Will be scouring the board for info as needed. I do have some track experience.... just nothing all that relevant to this forum LOL.

Welcome! Sweet looking fox.

Thanks. It's long sold though, along with the other vehicles pictured. Just have the newer Mustang now, and a pickup. Oh, and a Moped:cool:
I see you also come from an oval track background....

Only ran the car for a season. But as a high schooler I used to watch my girlfriend's dad run circles, and I wanted to try it. (30 years later, basically)

Long, LONG days, waiting in line for an hour for payout at the end of the night, hot as balls all day long, and I have a wife and kids. They would come watch, but it sucked their time up too. It was tons of fun, but a tough thing to do for some reasons. Also, the Legends cars aren't affordable like they used to be. I think paid 18K+ for a new turnkey one.

If I did that all over, I'd buy a cheap used Hobby Stock car.

Motorcycle racers seem to make good racecar drivers - I think their feel of grip and balance is developed faster & better.
One of the greats --

I agree 100% with Dave_W as I love getting badass bike riders as students when I am Instructing. They already understand the line since with only two wheels it is tantamount to both speed and keeping those leathers unscuffed. Finding speed comes reasonably quickly but hitting the apexes correctly over and over is a reasonably simple task for them to conquer.

I need to get you in my passenger seat....In the most platonic way. ;)

Howdy folks, Fred here from San Luis Obispo, CA. & happy to have just found this great forum to learn from you racer’s deep knowledge base. My new to me ‘08 Shelby GT replaces a C6 Z06, but will only be doing occasional CA. track days after she gets some ps4’s & decent seats. I’m really impressed with the Shelby GT FRPP factory build..this thing is so planted & surprisingly quick, but needs to drop a few more lbs. I’ve been running Laguna, Buttonwillow & big Willow for years in my various cars & bikes, am slow & old but can still hang & rattle. Cheers!IMG_8824.jpeg

Welcome, Fred!

Welcome Fred and SLO is in my wife and my favorite part of California. We especially enjoy the laid back feel of the area and the small towns like Cambria. Perfect spot to go to many cool tracks as you listed and that make SLO even more appealing. Always a good breakfast at Louisa's and NOVO is great for lunch/dinner.

Welcome to a great site and you will likely be surprised at how many members of TMO are from California.
