Hi all, just picked up a 2012 Boss LS #337 last weekend. Been wanting one since I was in high school and they came out. Can’t believe one is finally in the garage. I live in the Oklahoma City area so I should be able to get some decent use out of it most of the year. Looks like Dig-It on here was the original owner. Loving it so far and want to start tracking it next year if time allows. Shout out to Dig-It for putting all the track mods on so it’s basically turn key besides some new tires.

Welcome!

Hi all, I wanted to introduce myself. I've been a lifelong Mustang fan and had a 2015 GT for seven years before getting my Dark Horse last January. I have a couple of years of HPDE experience and am excited to continue to learn how to drive fast and branch into more competitive Time Attack events.

Welcome to you’ll love the dark horse on track! Great car!

Hello from Canada,

have a 1986 Mustang GT 5.0 L Hatch that I take to lapping days, and a1984 Mustang Hatch project that I hope to race at some point in vintage road racing. Have raced both CASC and VARAC in the past here in Canada. Have been racing cars or bikes all my life, don't intend to stop.

Welcome to the forum, good bunch of people here, lots of Mustang knowledge. I started racing around 1988 with CASC-OR and then in Firehawk, so you probably pre-date me by a few years. I pretty much run track days only with Speed Therapy these days, good bunch of guys and the cheapest track days around.
The black Taurus looks kind of familiar, it looks like an ex-Cascar car, except for the big wing?
Your '84 project looks very interesting, you could start a build thread on here if you want to document progress.

Hello, I'm Joe. I am relatively new to HPDE, having done my first event only a little over 2 years ago. However, I have been a Mustang guy off and on for a long time. My first car in high school was a 1977 Mustang II (don't laugh, I liked it). Then when I graduated from college in 1988 I bought a new Mustang GT that I drove and loved for years. In the last three years I bought the car I now take to the track. Plus I have a 2019 Ecoboost for my daughter and a 2024 GT manual transmission convertible just because it is so fun to drive anywhere. I'm selfishly turning to this forum because I am hitting some limits in my car for sure. Some I have solved already on my own, but I figured this place ought to have a vast wealth of knowledge to draw upon. Here are a couple recent pics of me at Ozarks International Raceway (OIR everybody calls it around here anyway).

Welcome!

Check out the Fast Ford and Mustang Roundup ( racemph.com ) the first week in September in Hastings , Ne. A reasonable drive from Olathe and there are usually Mustangs from 7-10 States in attendance and Classes for all models ( mods can figure in too ). Runs are timed and you can get a ton of info from all the Stangs that show up and there will likely be a surprise or two since Ford Engineers often attend. Welcome and there will be folks there from Kansas , Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Colorado, Michigan, for sure and likely some others from Wisconsin, Illinois , North Dakota and Wyoming. It is a party and tons of track time on a road course repaved a few years back -- made it 2-3 seconds a lap faster!

Thank you, Bill! That sounds like a great idea!

Must be something in the water in Olathe, KS. I too live in Olathe and recently had my first HPDE track day at OIR.

My wife and I are part of the Mustang Club of greater Kansas City. Grew up in southwest Missouri and rode motorcycles for a number of years through out but spent a lot of time in Arkansas using the road as a track. Yes, I know it is dumb. I am older now (45) and do a little better at behaving.

Car 1 - 2016 Mustang GT PP1 - 36k miles. Setting up for HPDE/AutoX car. Steeda dual progression springs/shocks, stop the hop kit. Long tube headers, Corsa exhaust tuned by Wengerd.
Car 2 - 2021 Mustang GT Convertible - Show car- Wifes - Shadow Black with "show-stopper" red interior.

Looking at adding race seats, harness and rear harness/rollbar to the track car. Got another HPDE coming up August 2nd at Hedge Hollow in Adrain, Mo followed by a AutoX event in September.

Thanks for having me

Wow, car 1 looks a lot like mine, even has the same mileage. It's definitely louder than mine with the headers and that exhaust though.

Welcome!

It does get a little rowdy and sometimes admittedly it is too loud, but it isn't bad enough that I fix it. I do have some resonators that can be installed that should knock it down when the time comes or if there is an event that has limits on noise.

Lots of members on here from Nebraska, Kansas , Missouri and Iowa and the Midwest is a " Hotbed " for Mustang Maniacs. One note, have you done camber plates on your Mustang yet for more negative camber?

If you do get the race seats seriously look at a roll bar to attach the harnesses to. It adds some chassis stiffness and a lot more safety than a harness bar. Pretty easy install too, I put mine in and I'm 73, if I can do it anyone can.

That noise thing is getting to be a bigger PITA every day. If you deal with it up front your hearing will thank you. Don't be like me, wearing hearing aids at 40 from too many hours in loud cars. John Q Public will also thank you.

Have not done camber plates, but I will put that on the list.

The Watson bolt in roll bar - I can attach harnesses to it, I believe. Can anyone verify? I have also made a separate post in the S550 forum to handle these questions, but it has not been approved yet.

As far as the loud part; wearing ear plugs when I am in the track as well as the helmet. Spent the first 17 years of my life as a diesel-powered refrigeration technician so I am used to hearing protection.

Appreciate all the advice.
