So i put in the R16/12’s fronts are very noisy but grab like no tomorrow lol. Not that i mind that much but was considering possibly putting in a more street friendly pad. Question is go GS-1 or R6 front and rear? Is there any downside besides dust and noise to just running the pads? I keep my track alignment in as well and so far see no adverse wear but admittedly first get street driven a while lot. (i got 2.2 k on the car total )

I have the caliper temp sticker and some rotor temp paint i guess i could take it out and try and get some heat into them and see what it gets too. I think 275 is the recommended min which really isn’t that hot

The main thing: It stops ! lol

Race pads are going to be noisy , but are you looking for a more street/autocross type usage? I would contact Tim at OPMustang but I know when I ran 12s up front and 8s in the rear I did not get much noise , but he might even suggest a 10/8 mix if autocrossing. I definitely would keep your current set up if you are mainly doing track time.

Yeah it’s going to track it mostly. The stock pads were pretty good interested to see how these are. Driving around my little town made quite the racket though pretty funny

I had 18s on my Mach 1 and they don't scream , they howl. I remember a guy honking at me over and over until I rolled down my window. He yelled at me that my brakes were down the pads and I just looked at him like I could not hear him. He yelled louder and I did respond back then with, " Oh, thanks I am practically deaf and I could not hear them. " Pretty sure the smile on his face was because he was pleased he helped an old deaf codger on that day, hehe.

I have the Gloc R12/R10 F/R and they are noisiest pads I've ever had in normal driving conditions with constant squealing as I expected. On track I haven't really noticed a difference vs. stock pads other than I seem to be activating the ABS intervention more easily. I think my front tires are too small (255) and not sticky enough to get value from the upgraded pads. I'm realizing this now as I see Miatas in my group all running nearly the same size width front tire (245) as me.

Time for 305 sticky tire

what do you mean you haven't noticed any difference? How hard are you braking ? I'm about to install the exact same set up. I have the 4 piston calipers in the front and 18x10 with 274/40 ...

Threshold braking - haven’t noticed a difference in stopping distance or performance is what I meant. Pedal feel remains strong all session.

I think the oem brakes are really just that good/are overkill with the non-handling pack cars’ narrow street tires.

For context I got brakes pre-bed from optimum performance.

Thank you. did you have to sand down the rotors? I thought a beding process involves both the rotor and the pad

I have a set of R16/R12's in the garage I didn't manage to make them work with the Yoko A052 they were constantly locking and causing ABS Ice Modes on my S550. Let us know how it will work for you on track will be a good way to find if there is Ice Mode on the S650s.

I never had an ice mode issue with my Mach 1 , yet I never went beyond a R10 in the rear. I always felt the R12s were too close in temp gradients to the R16 or R18s and I wanted the rears to come in earlier and more linearly. Seemed to work , but just my personal experience to toss out there.

I ran GLoc when I 1st started tracking my Shitstang. I swapped out to GS1 for street use. I had no issues and it was recommended by the owner of GLoc. (Danny I think)
If i was gonna do a lot of street driving that’s what id do. Have them
on my other mustang and no complaints there

YMMV but Terry @ Vorshlag recommended the R6 for my car and use case. I'd consider myself a Novice and there was no need to up the pad compound.

I've driven the R6 on the street to/from events and they've performed well. Some noise which was to be expected but they're a lot better in that regard compared to "compromise" pads that I've ran on other cars. I'd call these a Hawk HP+ that actually work.

i’ve heard the 6 was street friendly

They use that disclaimer on all the R pads. Pretty generic. The most street friendly R pad “from what i hear” . I might try it but everyone’s mileage may vary. They would take more abuse than the G1 i’m assuming? It is nice with the brembo front and rear pad changes are lightning quick

I wish Ferodo would hurry up and make S650 pads. I have read that their street friendly and track pads can be swapped with no issues. I have not read that about any other manufacturer's pad. E.g., with the GLoc, apparently it is no issue to swap from street to track pad, but you have an issue if you go the other way without preparing the rotor (sanding).

800° v. 1000°

R18 is 2100°

I am a novice, so my Akebono OEM Dark Horse pads were fine. Maybe I am only putting 73° into the pads with my slow, novice driving. I need more seat time before I even worry about pads.

And just for context - I know nothing at all. I am just repeating what it says on the manufacturer's web site. I have never used Gloc pads.
