Hi I was wondering if you guys could give some information about the Pettit lemans corral lap on Friday this year. This will be my second year going to the race and this time I’ll like to participate of the corral lap. My question is; how fast do you go? Is this just a slow lap to get to see the track from the car? I ask because I’m taking my 11 year old nephew and I want to be responsible and make sure I inform his mom of everything. Thank you!

Uummmm, it's not that cosmic; don't overthink it. It's most certainly not a track day. I wouldn't full on call it anti-climactic, but it's nothing to stress over. It's pretty darn cool to get out there and drive on the track and experience what the racers are seeing first hand...but...it's not a track day. You won't be setting any personal best out there, I promise you, lol. You'll both be fine. Having said that, you still get people out there that are outside their comfort zone and drive waayyyyy too slow and jam up people behind them. This becomes a problem because there's absolutely no passing. If you're concerned or not comfortable, see about getting as far aft in the crowd as you can. Most people don't have the SA to do this.

Got it; thank you!l I’ll see if I can go last since it is my first time there and I just upgraded to a Boss so I don’t want to do anything stupid. I’m thinking about getting some classes from an instructor at road Atlanta; that way I’m more comfortable with the car.

You're overthinking it, lol. Even if you get in a good comfortable group of cars, there's a pace car setting the overall. You're not out there just let loose to set a lap record.

One more question are helmets required for the corral lap?
No.

No helmet needed, speeds are probably just over highway speeds. Be sure to have your driver's license and proof of valid insurance. Hot laps take place typically on Friday at the end of qualifying. The Mustang corral has been the last group to take their pace laps among all of the groups the last two years they've had it.

FYI…the corvette corral just went out and it may have been the slowest, most painful thing I’ve ever watched.

But those guys were probably just happy to be together, so that’s all that matters, lol.

@AgsBoss302 , just in case you’re still worried about the speed.
