@flyhalf also cured his automatic transmission heat issues, but, again, he is in an S550.

The solution is by pass the thermostat "little boiler" thing under the car. I can help you with what should work. Not plug and play but absolutely doable

I do not know how much of that applies to the S650.

Do you still need to do the internal bypass? Drop the pan, drop the valve body, remove the 190° internal thermostat and replace it with a bypass?

I am wondering if the S650 replaced the internal thermostat with the external thermostat 7H322?

If anybody knows the fluid routing on the S650 and how this all works and how it is different or the same as the S550, please chime in and let us all know.

That is what I was thinking it was. I guess it warms up the fluid in to get it up to operating temperature more quickly?

That is on your S550 car, too?

Yeah. And unfortunate that creates massive issues on track. Cause no matter how big is the cooler the fluid is warmed up again before getting in the 10speed. So stupid.
my s550 doesnt have it. I made an internal bypass to ga e coolers running 24 7.
A setrab 640 is a good start. But u do have a side pocket too so you should consider 2 coolers if you go to the track a lot.

OK, so the S550 has the little boiler heat exchanger, too, and flyhalf says bypass it (and consider two coolers for transmission).

I sent an email to the guy at Richardson Performance in PA who did the Youtube video in post #9 at the link over at mustang6G in that post, asking him whether the S650 still has that internal thermostat, since we know we have an external thermostat on the Dark Horse and GT Performance Package.

I'll post here if he sends back an answer.

You're right, though. It shouldn't. There would be no real reason to have two thermostats. This may make lowering the thermostat temperature a much simpler proposition, and maybe mounting it in the same location would keep the temperature closer to the rating instead of mounting it six feet away like Rodpwnz did with his solution.

A couple of questions. You have an S550. Does it have this same thermostat, 7H322? Does the S550 have the heat exchanger down in front of the transmission, the 7A095B? Does the S650 need the transmission pan dropped and remove some internal thermostat like you did to your car?

To clarify, S550 does NOT have external thermostat 7H322 nor coolant heat exchanger 7A095B. I do not know if S650 has an INTERNAL thermostat, but it wouldn't make sense to if there is already external thermostat 7H322.

S550 has an INTERNAL thermostat(inside 10r80 valve body) set to 190F. S550 owners have to open up the transmission and valvebody to access and bypass the internal thermostat. On S650, it seems to be much different - you may only have to replace the EXTERNAL thermostat(7H322). It is important to verify that there is only an external thermostat.

The issue with the S650 is that you also have to contend with heat exchanger 7A095B. The heat exchanger is coupling the radiator/coolant temps to the transmission fluid temps, which is good for trans warm up but not ideal for keeping temps down or having a starting trans cooling temp below 180F/190F.

I believe radiator coolant thermostat is set to 190F. In order to completely decouple from the heat exchanger 7A095B setup in S650, you would have to attach something like this AN adapter to the ports coming directly from the 10r80: https://www.uprproducts.com/product...hCTLVbm7woDHHEIAp9EhdfyOo2qoICzoOLGXNwbVM27ou

And from that AN adapter directly on the transmission body, you would then fabricate custom AN cooler lines and install a new aftermarket external thermostat set to 140F or 160F somewhere between those custom lines and a new transmission cooler of your choosing.

Alesssandro and I both bypassed our S550 INTERNAL thermostat. I went with 165F(starts opening at 160F), Alessandro suggested to me 145F(140F open), and I think Alessandro doesn't use an external thermostat at all. He has bypassed the internal thermostat for his S550 and now has constant open cooler flow at all times.

When I went with double coolers I added a 130f and was perfection. I would suggest that now also for 1 cooler
