@Flash68 and I tearing up the asphalt at Sonoma last week.
Unfortunately he had an alternator failure (sound familiar?) and wasn't able to make the main event. :(

When men were men and women were women... An I imagine they paid you something for winning.
Anywhere from about 800 to 3000 dollars to win depending on the show.
Tires were 100 bucks a pop and entry was 35 bucks.
The races in the last 2 weeks were 1000.00 to win and 2000.00 to win....in MINI STOCKS!
Yeah....mini stocks. Toyotas, pintos and hondas with stock motors, bodies and suspension, yet my million dollar road race car with $550.00 a piece tires and near 1000.00 entry fee races for.....zero. That still stings just a little bit.

There we go, that's a mini stock from back in the day.
They haven't changed that much and some of the ones I built way back then are still winning.
Look how cute my kids were...they are all in their 40's now and have kids of their own. Ouch.

So funny how these things go. I was just chatting with a friend, like an hour ago, about the pitiful payouts of NHRA. Sprint Car payouts aren't much better. Kart racing, ha, you get a trophy from the local trophy shop!

Great looking family! My parents have pictures like that of us at the Drag Boat Races. My dad and uncle stopped before the next funeral was for one of them.

That's my boy now....still collecting trophy's with Dad. ;)

I noticed though that the kids are bigger and the trophy's are smaller....must be all that inflation I keep hearing about.
Those are all first place trophy's....3 races in 3 days. No consistency.

Update:
This is the mini stock that won the $2000.00 race.
No, I’m not kidding.
