If / when you have it rebuilt, upgrading the blockers and synchros, installing bronze shift pads, shifter bushings, polishing the intervals are a good idea. Liberty Gear does good work and bundles this and some other improvements as a package. But, turn around is 3 - 5 months. Of course, they also do faceplating….

Mine has been going strong since 2015, but I usually shift at 7,500 and occasionally at 7,800.
Faceplate/dog rings….same thing right?

They modify the stock gears by removing the sychros and adding dog rings. It is not a whole new gear set. You still need to use the clutch with the modification. I have not driven one, so I do not know what downshifting is like.

It would just be nice to actually get the gear I select on a semi regular basis.

In the drivers meeting they said any part of the racing surface was fair game, and I used every damn bit of it.

Nice job!!

The trans was showing signs of the problem. Was this before the Dyno session?
It’s been coming for a long time, it just got really bad after the dyno incident.

Road Ranger 15 or maybe 18 speed? The shifter looks like the 15 OD. Spent a few years clicking the gears on them way back in the day. Easier to shift without the clutch than any car manual gearbox. Breathe the throttle on upshifts and rev match on the downshifts. Falls into gear when the revs are right. Tough pieces, unlike the cursed MT82.
