Worked a Porsche club advanced drivers event this weekend and there were a couple of Boss's and 2014 GT's in. Discussion during lunch about some of the standard minor mods done for track days and the subject of rear axle vents came up and several fixes like Bob's catch can and some others mounted in trunk. One of the guys had a simple fix from Ford. The owner installed it with only a change from the axle tube to the upper diff cover. Grand total of $14. for the kit and $.75 for 90 deg barbed fitting instead of the straight one and his over pressure fluid loss problem was solved. One guy with the trunk mounted catch can noted that after almost a year and many track days he had never actually had and lube show up in the can. Seems like the extra length of vertical vent tube was enough to allow for expansion.
I recall seeing a similar arrangement on 60's and 70's cars and on an original GT350's also.
I just ordered one.
