Project Budget 400WHP S197 Mustang Track Car: Part 10 - MGW Short Shifter

"We greatly improve the feel and control of our S197 Mustang’s Getrag MT82 transmission with a short shift kit from MGW. It's expensive, but is it worth it? Read on to find out what I liked and didn't like about this short shift kit."

To help with the throw issue, I added one of these spec miata shift knobs to my MGW. It's perfect now, IMHO.

Those are easy to make, just 7/8 aluminum rod and slide bike grip on it :)
Could also use throttle side grip which is little bigger in diameter.

You could also put a clutch lever on it to confuse the competition.
Win a few races with it and they will start popping up around the paddock. lol.

I made one for my s2000 few years back but did not like it. I prefer bigger and more round like mustang has. I find it easier to shift.

Project Budget 400WHP S197 Mustang Track Car: Part 11 - Track Test!

"It is finally time to take our project car to the track and evaluate all of the components and work we have done up until this point.

The goal of Project Budget 400whp track car is to demonstrate that the 2005-2014 “S197” Mustang is not only a fantastic platform for an inexpensive track car, but that it is arguably the best and least expensive way to have reliable track car with over 400whp."

Project Budget 400WHP S197 Mustang Track Car: Part 12 - RTR Tactical Performance Coilovers

We installed the RTR Tactical Performance Coilovers on our Budget 400whp Track Car to give us adjustability in ride height, corner weights, and to soften and improve the ride quality of our daily driven S197 Mustang while having the adjustability to stiffen the suspension for track use.

In the article:
-RTR Tactical Performance Coilovers review and features
-How to PROPERLY adjust ride height on coilovers
-Front & Rear shock removal
-Front shock install
-Rear shock install and bumpstop modification
