First time out at NCM yesterday, and have to say...loved the track...HOWEVER, I too, like SC Boss, had the unfortunate run in with the wall at NCM. Since there were 51 one signed up in the Red instructor group, Matt had me switch over to the Black group, which was great since there were only 11 in the group. Day started good, temp was 43 degrees, so in my first session was really just getting to know the track, best last was a 2:30. Started the Contis cold @ 32F and 31R as a base, after the first session tires were reading right around 38F, and 36R so I knew at least I had a good base. Second session was much better, found some better lines and picked up the pace a little, best lap was a 2:22. Now for the 3rd session... I usually do at least one warm up lap for the tires and then ease into the next lap, and then work the pace up from there. On this particular lap however I was really wanting to focus on one section of the track where I had talked to the track instructor about the line from turns 12-16, was feeling pretty good with the line and was flat out from turns 13-15, on the second lap, took the inside for 16, and the tail came out, I corrected and felt like it was under control, however the car continued to drift wide and was rotating, made another bigger correction and the car snapped back to the right and I was backward, and then I hit the grass and new it was over. Hit on the left rear, and it bounced around and hit the left front. I knew I should have worked the tires in more before hitting the line like I did, but hindsight...she is a biznitch. Everyone one at the track was great, this was mostly a Corvette event, only 3 of us Mustang guys were there, however instead of the Chevy guys rushing over to take pictures of the dumb ass mustang guy and his car, they packed up my truck and trailer, took down my pop up and helped load the car. In the heat/shock of the moment after crashing you dont really have to time reflect on the passion, and comradery of the other ppl at the track with you, but the support and effort of the 20+ people who came over and helped, some missing their session was truly appreciated, and inspiring.
Now for the pictures.....Hoping everything is fixable, just have to find a good body shop now
