First time out at NCM yesterday, and have to say...loved the track...HOWEVER, I too, like SC Boss, had the unfortunate run in with the wall at NCM. Since there were 51 one signed up in the Red instructor group, Matt had me switch over to the Black group, which was great since there were only 11 in the group. Day started good, temp was 43 degrees, so in my first session was really just getting to know the track, best last was a 2:30. Started the Contis cold @ 32F and 31R as a base, after the first session tires were reading right around 38F, and 36R so I knew at least I had a good base. Second session was much better, found some better lines and picked up the pace a little, best lap was a 2:22. Now for the 3rd session... :( I usually do at least one warm up lap for the tires and then ease into the next lap, and then work the pace up from there. On this particular lap however I was really wanting to focus on one section of the track where I had talked to the track instructor about the line from turns 12-16, was feeling pretty good with the line and was flat out from turns 13-15, on the second lap, took the inside for 16, and the tail came out, I corrected and felt like it was under control, however the car continued to drift wide and was rotating, made another bigger correction and the car snapped back to the right and I was backward, and then I hit the grass and new it was over. Hit on the left rear, and it bounced around and hit the left front. I knew I should have worked the tires in more before hitting the line like I did, but hindsight...she is a biznitch. Everyone one at the track was great, this was mostly a Corvette event, only 3 of us Mustang guys were there, however instead of the Chevy guys rushing over to take pictures of the dumb ass mustang guy and his car, they packed up my truck and trailer, took down my pop up and helped load the car. In the heat/shock of the moment after crashing you dont really have to time reflect on the passion, and comradery of the other ppl at the track with you, but the support and effort of the 20+ people who came over and helped, some missing their session was truly appreciated, and inspiring.

Now for the pictures.....Hoping everything is fixable, just have to find a good body shop now

That is a really fast corner…I am usually through there around 90mph. Those rumble strips are no fun either and really upset the rear axle. Luckily you bled off some speed before you went off track. I would say it could have been a lot worse. That is an easy fix but still frustrating to damage the car. Was there any damage that kept you from running for the rest of the day? The car still looked drivable.

Yes, did you notice the mufflers in the one picture, they were pretty well closed shut, but the car was at least drive able to get on and off trailer

Sucks man... really unfortunate that it got the front and rear fenders. Hopefully they can be repaired.

Luckily the damage looks to be mostly cosmetic. Might could have run the rest of the day, although not as pretty as before :)

Thanks for sharing and good luck with the repairs.

So friend of mine at the track today says from the looks of the skid marks it looks as if I dropped a wheel on the right side in the grass, so went back and looked at the video, and it does appear that is what I did, not that it makes the damage any better, but I does give me a better understanding of exactly what did happen.

Man, hate to see that you had an accident at NCM. This track is only a couple of hours away from me and I have been tempted to take my Boss out on its maiden track voyage at NCM, however yours and SC Boss's accident don't give me much confidence that this would be a good idea. All the guardrail sure looks intimidating!

Best of luck getting repaired and back out on track ASAP!

I would not hesitate to take you car there, but this is definitely not one of those tracks that you can master after 1 session, take you time and utilize every session. Also take advantage of the instructors and classroom sessions. This is a fun, technical and challenging track, can't wait to go back

Sorry to see that you banged your car up, but thanks for sharing. On a positive note, it looks as if it is only cosmetic and that the airbags did not appear to have deployed, which can really add to the expense. I've yet to have an incident on track ("yet" as it is inevitable for those of us that regularly track our cars)' but whenever I've had street accidents I've used them as excuses to upgrade / improve the car in some way..."damn, I smashed the bumper and headlight so I guess I've gotta get a new set of coilovers!" :D It lightens the wallet a bit more but does wonders for your happiness! Good luck with the repairs.

Just noticed this, Sorry to see the damage. That can be tough, Just rebuilt the front of mine. Glad to see your okay. Cars can be fixed. You would not be as easy.

I HATE to see NCM claiming another mustang!! As they all have said..we are glad you're ok!! Looks like yours is going to require new front and rear bumper covers and new front fender. Couldn't tell if rear quarters were damaged..

I think the numbers '15' are jinxed for mustangs at NCM!!

I've got more body repair pics of mine to post on Monday.

Good luck with repairs!!

Sorry to see the damage. NCM is a fantastic track, but it's very tight for run-off and as Adam said that is a fast turn -- with some off camber on the outside. Glad that you're OK and good luck with the repairs.

I've done 7 days there and there has yet to be a day without incident ......

Well after a long hiatus the stang is back up and ready to rock. Took some time last year and just had fun in the ST, and picked up an SCCA championship in the ST. However its time to get back to running with the proper amount of cylinders!
