An assist spring should never cause the pedal to hang up a

The spring will press against the clutch, assist when past center. M
The hang up is likely caused by the inability of the clutch springs to overcome the centrifugal forces at high speed.

I would remove the spring and see what happens

Regardless, I would let your dealer know and have the issue entered into fords database.
