Sonoma action from Friday. T2 is pretty botched up right now, i really messed it up this lap but what can ya do.... This was my first session out here running yokohama slicks, they feel much different than a7's so adjusting and getting used to them this session... They did not like the T2 bumps, Hoosiers didn't seem to care near as much...

Beautiful.

Here's a few videos... first off, my fastest two laps at Road America in my standard format.

We ran GoPros from the back window... for the first time ever, I had GoPro footage of my body while driving. That will be second.

Third, my last session saw everything come together. I started with 2:43 on a warm up lap, and I had to take some cool down laps every 3-5 laps. If someone interrupted me, I'd take another.... but I slowly got my laps from 2:43 to mid 2:42's, then creeping to low 2:42's... then into a pair of 2:41's... everything I learned all day was coming together brilliantly.

Rumor is that the grey honda is saying the contact with the black honda is my fault for taking the inside.....Well, coming back onto the track at race speed is kinda a no no...I was first to brake zone anyways. What I think happened is when the offtrack car got on the brakes, the tires were wet and muddy ( we have had heavy rain ) and that caused him to rotate into the black car. I think the contact was right about when we brake, they went straight off the track after contact but I still did my best to hug the inside of the track. Sorry, I left sound on the second roof cam video, its just noise.

If that was a race you did nothing wrong. If it was practice then it was not the best move in my opinion, but still you did nothing wrong. Drive on.

First of all, this was not your fault.
HOWEVER, when you see someone who looks like they are struggling like that it behooves you to back out of it and wait for them to gather it up.
If those guys are gonna crash you don't wanna be anywhere near them when that happens. Especially if there is no prize money on the line.

you beat me to it.....be we agree.

It was a race. I was in 3rd. That incident got me the lead. Won 2 of 3 races , was a good day for me. I honestly expected the offtrack car to ease up and be behind me by the corner. We had a good lecture in the driver's meeting that racing back onto the track was not to happen if you went off.
W2W race you did nothing wrong.

Agree with the comments above, not your fault. Black honda had no intention of letting the grey honda back on track or he would have started to move across before you made it past his rear corner. I think he was surprised that the grey honda came back suddenly, there was a row of cones coming up fast, and then swerved but only then realised that there was a mustang making a move up his inside. Target fixation and didn't watch his inside.

"My entry fee covers the whole track - not just the part that YOU want me on."

A Fabman " Classic " statement but I concur since like Sal I find the best line around most tracks has many areas where you really need to use the whole course since the winning edge is when you are right on said.

Charlotte made another modification to their infield last year to facilitate more passes in the roval race. I was eager to try it out... and I think I like the older configuration better. At the rate Charlotte keeps changing rovals, its pretty hard to expect the forum to know what's what.

I also put some commentary/captions on the video if anyone ever wants my tips on how to properly run this place. Here are two laps.

And if long, uninterrupted consistency is your thing, here's this.
