HPDE tires

I'm looking for anyone's experience with 200 UTQG treadwear or less.
My original plan was to drive 200 UTQG tires to the track, which I did with the 888's. I bought the BC Forged wheels used with new Proxy R888R's and ran them out, 5 track days, qty. 20 - 20 to 30 min sessions depending on the host club. A track-day neighbor with the same Mustang as me suggested the Proxy RR's as a sticky cost- effective option. So, I packed them in the car and drove them to the track after the 888"s were used up. ( a bunch of extra work) .
I have 10 years of HPDE experience and generally run in the advances group.
Here's my tire experience so far; 888's were OK, very loud on the street! Usually good for 5 or 6 laps, then get greasy the last few laps of a 20 -25 min session.
I haven't run the NT01's on my S550 yet but ran them on my C5; (slightly) less noise on the street, very consistent over a 20 to 25 min session, 20 to 22 heat cycles. Problem is they used to be very "cost effective" but the NT01 price has increased substantially compared to other options.
The Proxy RR's have been really good, , a bunch of fun to run. consistent through the full session. Late in the day they get a little greasy the last lap or 2 but don't loose too much. Only down side is I cant drive them to the track. Price is GREAT!
I'm not looking for a "hero lap" tire like the time attack guys, consistency over a 20 to 25 min session is key feature for me.
I can run either rim for track, the BC's or stock PP2 rims. I can run 305 square on the factory rims I can run 295 square on the BC Forged or 295/305. BC forged are MUCH lighter. ( 19 lbs vs 32 lbs)

My 2026 season will start with the Proxy RR's as there is at least 1 more weekend in them, Hoping for more than that.
Below are my options in 2 groups 200 UTQG and 100 and below.
Over $2K for a set of tires is not in my budget but I left them in the matrix anyway.
Let me know which tire you'd try next and why.
200 treadware and above I'd drive to the track. I drove to the track on the NT01's which I believe is still doable.
When I went to -2.3 camber in front I was expecting serious tire ware but kept toe at Zero and it seems OK, I drove 8 hours to NCM on the Michelin sport 4S and did not see any deleterious effects, surprisingly!

You should take a look at the Vitour P1 tire. People are setting some very good laps with them. One fellow I know with a 800hp M3 could not get his usual Hoosier R7s in time so he went to a track day with the Vitour P1 and set a personal best. I was a little surprised since we supply him with the Hoosiers normally.

Both good options, I'll add to the matrix. It looks like I can't edit post #1 any more.

GY SC3 - Track able street tire. Good street tire that can be used on the track. Attention to pressure and heat to keep them alive longer. Factory tire for the Chevy Camaro SS 1LE and ZL1 so it was designed for a similar car. USAA members get 25% off Goodyear tires. SCCA members get 20% off Goodyear tires.

Conti ECF - Street able track tire. Good track tire that can be used on the street. Will last long and not be finicky about pressure and heat. Engineered for endurance racing and HPDE with a durable tread compound for extended race events or back to back HPDE sessions.

IMO you'll get more consistent track performance and overall track days out of the Conti. I run the Conti ECF as the do everything tire on my mustang. Either way, it seems like you'll track enough to try both, get one after the other. They're both newer than the 888/NT01 so if you like those, you should like the new stuff.

The 295/35/19 Yokohama A052 tire is the only track tire that I actually bought twice for 7 seasons with the car. My drive is 124 to 370 miles depending on which track I go to I got 130 laps (240 track miles) out of the last set as well as an 1200 miles road trip last summer outside of track days. Overall I like it because it's relatively quiet and soft sidewall tire for the road but has an insane amount of grip no matter the situation and it's even good on wet. Overall I value the road comfort more than track performance however the tire is really fast on track as well. So there is a tire that can do it all.

And I assume you want to drive to the track, so Hoosier R7 or the new R8 that is coming out, or actual slicks by Michelin are ruled out?

Gentlemen, you now have the next Generation RE71, the RZ, and it has plenty of solid sizes in 18s and 19s. Drive to the track, drive home and drive fast on what many feel is the King of the 200 TWR tire ( and that was with the RE71RS ). More sizes than with the RS and that should bode well for those doing HPDEs or running through the cones.

Have you run them?

The 305/30R19 size has a 10.8" tread width and is 26.3" tall, which appears about perfect for an 11" wheel.

The 325 is 26.7" tall, but they do not provide a tread width on Tire Rack.

$536 per tire in 305.

There are a number of YouTube videos declaring it the "new king of 200 tw!" and so on, but . . . Can you tell us about them, from your own experience? Hearing from another forum member here means more to me than Youtube videos (who might be getting paid to influence what they say). Also, a Youtube video on a Honda Civic or a Miata is not necessarily informative about what is best for my 500 horsepower car that weighs close to two tones.

What sort of front camber setting works best with this tire on our heavy cars?

I'm planning on getting a set of the Bridgestone re-71rz's come spring time. From what I've seen while testing on a newer gen BRZ it was 9/10's faster then the previous gen RS. That's huge for a tire that was already considered fast. What will that mean for our heavy cars? I'll have to get back to you when its not snowing anymore.

Video for reference:

One thing for the Mustang is the RZ has some wider sizes than what the RS had ----example 315 and 335 in and 18 inch tire when 295 is the widest in an RS.

Ask DaveW how well a 295 worked in the RS and I would bet he is excited that there will be a 315 in the RZ after all his success with a smaller RS.

That would require some really wide wheels. The 315 is an 11.5" tread width.

Oh, you will get some responses from many here have run 315s on S197s, S550s, and S650s. I ran them on my S197s with 11 wide 18 inch wheels. You will have to make some adjustments, but the size is common for those running CAMC, for instance.
