Pagid, what I run is very aggressive. I don’t know your track driving so I can’t recommend specific padsSorry; now I mean what pads to go with? Sorry wasn’t specific.
Start with entry level track pads maybe GLoc R10/R8 or some other brand alternative and progress from there. Since pads are very subjective and when you start you can't heat them up properly so you can't make real race pads work properly which could be tricky / dangerous. Since this as a consumable you will have a chance to change them on the next buy.Sorry; now I mean what pads to go with? Sorry wasn’t specific.
Never had a problem with R10’s squealing on the street. I started getting some noise with R12’s.I know everyone suggests at least G-LOC R10 for front, but I'm still doing well with R8 in front as well as rear... (but I have significant brake cooling mods for the front). I like that I can keep the R8s on without switching back to street pads because they are silent on the street and don't sound like a school bus squealing during braking.
I'm guessing you are also not braking hard enough or you are not running R-compound or TW200 tires. My Mustang sustains braking in the 1.4-1.6G range so it heats up a lot. Granted Ecoboost is lighter so you can get away with R8's upfront.I run R10/R8 and it only took me 2 laps before my pedal gets rock hard because the pad is not sustaining the heat from the braking.I know everyone suggests at least G-LOC R10 for front, but I'm still doing well with R8 in front as well as rear... BTW, your build photo looks strangely similar to mine LOL.I’m also in Florida and run r12 up front and r10 in the rear. I’ll probably get r16 on the front once I get 200tw tires
the GLoc's squeal for me on the street I tend to daily on the R10/R8 pads which is not exactly a bright idea. Also they squeal on the track as well that is when they get hot. I know that titanium shims help with that and heat but I don't have an easy way to ship that to Bulgaria.Yeah I'm not running 200tw tires yet; I will after these wear out. Once I do that I agree that I probably will not get away with R8s and will have to upgrade after then.
Also, I live in Florida where it is always hot so the brake pads are never cool; maybe if I lived where it gets cold I would get more brake squeal...(?)
Yes I'm not on 200tw tires until after these wear out, and they are 275 width, less width than you are probably running. I am not able to brake anywhere near 1.6G and I am lighter which I agree is why R8 is probably working for me up front. If/when I go to 200tw tires and/or wider wheels and tires in the future, I'm sure that will change.I'm guessing you are also not braking hard enough or you are not running R-compound or TW200 tires. Also my rear R8's sound like a school bus as well so that's not an argument all race brake pads squeal.
Yeah the R10 front R8 rears were working fine for me when I was running 275 square tires. Ones I added coilovers and 305 tires the brake pads become the bottleneck.Yes I'm not on 200tw tires until after these wear out, and they are 275 width, less width than you are probably running. Good to know! Just due to higher speeds you can now carry and thus more braking I assume?Update: I'm on 295 width 200tw tires now and yes indeedy; R8 doesn't cut it for front brake pads anymore I'm gonna have to upgrade now.
Look at R12 front R10 rear. That is a good combination for 200tw tires.Update: I'm on 295 width 200tw tires now and yes indeedy; R8 doesn't cut it for front brake pads anymore I'm gonna have to upgrade now.
Skip it and go straight to R16/R12 and even then there is a good chance it won't cut it with 200TW tires.Look at R12 front R10 rear. That is a good combination for 200tw tires.
I guess... and threshold braking is certainly at a much higher grip level than before so those pads are doing a lot more work than before.Good to know! Just due to higher speeds you can now carry and thus more braking I assume?
R12/10 is a good combo for your set up. But I would recommend Pagid. I ran R12/10 combo and they worked great but didn't last long. My Pagids last up to 10 track days on the front and I am hard on the brakes. (I have a thing for passing Porches (GT3 & RS) on the brakes coming into certain Turns at Sonoma).Update: I'm on 295 width 200tw tires now and yes indeedy; R8 doesn't cut it for front brake pads anymore I'm gonna have to upgrade now.
What Pagids you are running the S550 GT Brembo's don't have a real option in Pagid because the shape is not common.R12/10 is a good combo for your set up. But I would recommend Pagid. Pagid RSL29 - I have a GT350 and don’t t know what they do or don’t make for the GT.What Pagids you are running the S550 GT Brembo's don't have a real option in Pagid because the shape is not common.
