Well, I could not wait for any mails to come in or will end up missing the next race in April. Bought two Hyper Exedy singles, one for me and another for a 2016 S550 that's getting into the addiction.

But the tranny is apart and innards look great..... though I would say the donor box for the Stage 3 has all its original dirt intact since the day it left the factory.

Since the car is in the hospital wating for its tranny case swap and new clutch, We took advantage of swapping out the old Koni SA shocks on the Cortex coilovers for a set of Koni DA inserts.

Low and behold.. the DA is a little longer, so the cap would only get a get threads on.

We ground off the rim a bit to get the shock sitting flush. The center now sits free and well supported in the strut. so an easy fix.

All flush and ready to go. The Koni SA shocks have five season on them and were in a bad need for viagra.

Another endorsement for the Exedy clutch. After two OE clutches, I switched to an Exedy Grooved Mach 500 Stage 3 Clutch (PN 387454) with Exedy Lightweight Racing Flywheel (PN 62510) and it's been flawless. Both stock ones blew up on high rpm shifts. I'm not racing, just DE events but shifting 7- 8k rpm and have not had any issues. 30+ DE events on it and ~12k miles of mostly track miles.

Good luck with you new changes and sorry to hear you will miss the April Race! Have only heard good things about both of your clutch choices and as you noted if the Phoenix Performance likes the Exedy that is a real World solid endorsement.

This is why I hesitate to only recommend the Hyper Single. People have found what works, and the common denominator is the Exedy pressure plate. And any of their clutches seem more durable than other brands available.

My squating came to a stop when I was having too much contact with the rear tires... time to re-visit and corner balance again.
Maybe not a bad time to consider the whole setup. Now that you have more aero and better control with the DA Konis, I think it’s a good time to reconsider your whole setup a bit. More squat for your low speed exits, a bit more spring and rear ride height for 1) accommodating more wing angle 2) tire clearance and 3) making sure your overall aero doesn’t become too pitch sensitive...which also ties to ‘needing’ or being able to use higher spring rates, for which the internet always wants to disagree with.

JMO, as usual.

Looks like we will have more time to prep the car, Covids third wave is closing every thing down again even as Chile is sprinting way ahead on vaccinations with 45% of the population having at least the first jab. Should see the effects next month, fingers crossed.

The last time out, the car felt very well balanced and very easy to drive. Part of me wants too tweak the whole car right away, but the boring part of me says wait till I get a handle on the new track layout and start pushing the car a little more. The DA konis are installed and ready to go in any case. Now that our track has high speed and low speed curves, the cars handling is put to a more rigorous and variable test. Its funny to see a Cayman GT4 stuck to your bumper gong into the corner, and then watching him being left behind on corner exit.. The Porsche crowd are saying that I have 600 hp :D;).

Going to leave the the Koni DA shocks on middle compression and and near full stiff rebound for the next race and see were that gets me. Any one with any experiance with the Koni DA shocks???

Yeehhaaa, Clutch arrived and going into the car tomorrow. the Exedy hyper Looks much much better built then the Spec 3 clutch that flew apart, so thats nice to see. Our race for the 11th of April has been delayed due to the third Covid wave that is spreading quickly down here. At least we are getting vaccinated at a pretty good rate. Next race will be as soon as we can get permission.

Well WTF.... the Exedy flywheel is machined 0.1mm to small and does not bolt on the Boss... So we tried the second Exedy kit we bought for a S550... and guess what, It also is 0.1mm to small...

@Fabman, did you have the same problem?? My mechanic does not want to force it on so wants ot take it too the machine shop for a slight polish. Are you supposed to hammer it on??

Matt--the flywheel is not a slip-fit. You line it up with the holes correctly (as it looks you have done--it only fits one way--and DON'T forget the pulse ring!) then get each of the bolts started by hand. Then use an alternating/star pattern (as shown in the engine assembly manual) to pull the flywheel onto the back of the crank (you will do a few "rounds" of the star pattern) and get it seated. Then you final torque it.
