I could use some advice from people who have driven and built both cars.

I have a 2012 Boss 302, and I've already swapped in a Tremec T56 Magnum XL. I'm at the point where I'm asking myself if I should trade it for a Mach 1 or just keep investing in the Boss.

I love the S197 chassis, the styling, and the fact that Boss 302s are becoming harder to find, so I'm leaning toward keeping it. My goal is to make it as good as—or better than—a Mach 1 in the areas that actually matter on a road course and spirited driving.

I'm looking for recommendations on:

- Suspension upgrades that would match or surpass the Mach 1's handling and ride quality.
- Steering feel improvements.
- Chassis stiffness and bushings.
- Differential, half shafts (if applicable), and driveline upgrades.
- Cooling upgrades for track use.
- Stronger engine components (oil pump gears, crank sprocket, valvetrain, etc.) for long-term reliability.
- Any geometry or alignment changes that make a noticeable difference.
- Parts that genuinely improve cornering and driver confidence rather than just adding horsepower.

I'm not chasing huge horsepower numbers. I care more about balance, precision, braking, reliability, and overall driving feel.

If you had a clean 2012 Boss 302 with a T56 Magnum XL already installed and planned to keep it for years, what would you upgrade to make it outperform a stock or lightly modified Mach 1? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's owned or tracked both.

CorteX Watts Link, Rear LCAs, Cambered Rear Axle, and SLA front suspension, in that order, if you have some cash to blow. Suggest pairing that with JRi or Penske dampers readily available now.

Get the car onto 11" wide wheels, use hubs with extended studs from OP Mustang, if not implementing the front SLA immediately. 20-25mm spacer for the front wheels to improve track width and turn in. Camber plates, and cut the strut towers appropriately for additional negative camber adjustment.

My build thread will be a treasure trove for you if you have time to read it.

Read this. You can make it exceed most things if your dedicated enough. Even with a junk yard engine.

There are a few fast S197s out there and for handling I believe they have Cortex. While they make great stuff, I suggest you ensure they supply everything and not piece meal it together. My buddy bought a kit from them and they sent it piece by piece and he had to wait to install his set up. I have heard (from personal friends) their customer support is lack luster at best.
