I have a 2012 Boss 302 #3101 to be exact. It has been long time for an oil & coolant change and I have a lot of questions. For the oil, Ford recommends 5w 20 however owners use 5w 50 and 2 jugs of it at that. I do not track the car at all. I daily drive it. So must the car take 5w 50 and I'll cause harm is I use a thinner 20, 30 or 40? And if so 5w 50, what brand? Motul, Motorcraft or Amsoil? For the coolant type is it safe to use VP Racing coolant or Mishimoto coolant for this car?

Ford recommends 5W-50 for the roadrunner engine in the Boss. I've seen some people using 5W-40, and some that use thicker stuff too but I wouldn't go too much thinner. Definitely not the 5W-20 the GT's use. As far as brand, everyone has their favorite. @Mad Hatter uses cheap Mobil 1. Plenty of guys use the Motorcraft. I used that too for a while. You can get it from RockAuto for a decent price. Amsoil is also good.

I've heard but I don't know for sure that the cylinder clearances are different in this motor, or for any motor with forged pistons and so that's why the 5W-50. I don't know if that's correct though. If you want to be safe, use 5W-50.

As far as coolant, the spec you need is WSS-M97B57-A1. The Motorcraft concentrate is VC-13-G. VC13DLG for the prediluted.
