This is all great information! Thanks to all. I was not familiar with VOC's at all, that film is basically the new car smell ie. plastics releasing gas as mentioned above?

So, the resolution would be to clean all interior parts/plastics in great detail with products such as windex and a clean absorbant micro fiber towel? Would this resolve the issue?

I guess the only downside would be losing that new car smell that so many love, I have to admit it, I still find myself going into the garage to catch a wiff, actually dont want to lose it. :'(

My solution to keeping the smell and avoiding the off gas is to keep it parked in the shade/garage. It's hard to keep the plastics from off gassing if you park in the sun. There's night and day difference between my GT that parks outside and the Boss which is a garage queen. It still smells new at 1 year old. I doubt cleaning the plastic directly would completely solve the problem, but might reduce the window deposits.

OK, there is definitely some type of coating on the windshield. My car had a very light 6 inch scratch on the upper drivers side portion of the windshield when delivered. 5 days ago the dealer had a glass specialist polish it out. Fantastic job, can't tell it was ever there. However, yesterday when caught in the rain, the windshield wipers would leave a film/streak over the glass swipe area. EXCEPT, you could see an absolutely clear section where the guy polished. It even had a perfectly straight edge where he taped off the rest of the windshield. Today, even after cleaning with alcohol, I was fighting the streaking everywhere except the polished area. He must have polished off some kind of coating. So, I'm thinking about having the entire front and rear glass lightly polished either at a glass shop or a detailer. Probably run me $150 bucks or so but if it gives me clear glass it's worth every penny. Any thoughts???

Thanks Justin. Will do. I wonder what the coating is and why its there? Not that I have any reservations about removing it. Good old fashioned clear glass is fine for me.

could be from the processing process. my GF's brand new Fiat had some type of crap on it too. The Zaino took it right off.

Z-12 halted the haze!!! by Frank from Annapolis, MD
Where to start...well, for as long as I can remember, the interior side of my 2003 Mustang GT's windshield has always been victim of that annoying hazy film that so many other cars get. It drove me crazy; I'd wipe it off and just a few hours later it would be back. I tried so many cleaners and different towels to get it off, but it was so stubborn and just wouldn't stay away.

I saw the Z-12 advertising it would eliminate the haze. I figured it was worth a shot...I've been using other Zaino products since 2002, so I figured why not try another. I'm glad I did. Z-12 has lived up to it's word by getting rid of the haze. As of this writing, it's been 2 weeks since I initially applied it to the inside of my windshield, and I haven't seen ANY hazing since (well, except for when it rains, it fogs up but that's always been the case...just nature there). Thank you Zaino!!
