Door scuff plates

Well I replaced my door scuff plates for fun. Wanted something that would light up... The LED lighted portions and lettering came out smaller than I thought they would from Ford show parts, but I guess it looks all right. My camera skills aren't so good so the lighting isn't the best. Sorry.

You tap into the wires according to the instructions behind the passenger side A pillar. I was thinking of putting in a fuse,but didn't. The instructions didn't say to do it but i guess should of...

You can actually get different colors depending on what wire you tap into. Looking from the top of the connector, the right most wire will give you blue, the one to the left of that will give you green, the one to the left of that will give you red, if you splice all 3 wires together that will give you white, and the left most wire is ground... Of course if we had ambient lighting and my color it would be plug and play and we could control the colors..

And the final product, voila.

You can custom make your scuff plates at the ford show parts website. So you can make it say Boss 302 or Laguna Seca. Here are some examples of what you can create...

Nice. It would be cool if the letters in the stock "Powered by Ford" sill plate would light up like mine (who knows- maybe a 2013 touch). The lighted sill plates came in my GT and is integrated into the ambient lighting, so it changes color with the footwells and doors. The dash is independently set. It's cool but I could take it or leave it. I have an orange and red theme going for Halloween and Thanksgiving right now.
