Enough crying.....everybody else....carry on.
(I'll still consider simulators to be the fleshlight of auto racing but that's me)

Oh id never sell my actual car to go sim racing full time but I run in a good league that has great wheel to wheel races on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday night in 3 different cars. Duplicating that in the real-world would set me back 8 figurs to have 3 competitive race cars ans run multiple seasons. This just scratches the itch between actual events.

@mavisky Budget and family commitments limit my time that I can allocate for track weekend, a good season for me it 4 track weekends. The sim fills in the gaps especially in winter. I love to compete so Iracing member and leagues are really fun. What League are you running in? Half Fast Racing is the league I run with but, their timeline caters to west coast so I only run GT3 on Saturday mornings. 10 PM week night sessions are little late for us east coasters. I'll look into that. Currently running an MX5 and GT4 season with Apex This league. Most the guys there are central time zone so that means pre-race practice starts at 7pm, qualify at 8:50, and race starts at 9EST. Definitely pushes it a little late in the afternoon, but with my daughter at dance til a little after 9 most nights it just barely fits my schedule.

Following this to see if it’s worth the time and energy at this point. I am very familiar with virtual reality simulators from aviation. We have the best simulators in fact you get your checkride in the simulator and then go fly the plane the first time……

Sounds like sims aren’t that advanced maybe the F1ones are full motion etc but the airbus/boeing sims are like $50 million dollars. But i digress i think learning a track as a newbie would be very beneficial. That would be my main takeaway

This weekend great example as each session got faster as i learned the track and got in the “flow”. With blind corners elevation changes etc took a while to “learn” the track which was time wasted inmo. Walking track or the best newbie thing was riding in a bus with an instruction giving the play by play to the new guys. That really helped. But a couple hours on a sim track would have put me way ahead just learning the track. Or to refresh each year etc
