What can you do with old helmets?

Is there anything useful that I can donate to or etc with my SA2015 helmets that are now out of date, or are they only good for throwing in the trash?

I use to cut the strap and throw them into the trash. However, I kept my old full racing gear set from the late 80's due to the fact that I knew it was the end of a dream of being a Indy car driver(I was driving in Pro Atlantic series). The whole ensemble is now on display in my garage. Per my daughters request I have also kept my last three helmets and suits that I have retired for my grandson. (I have three grandsons).

Find a local auto-x club. Give it to them to give to some new kid without a helmet or with an even older one.
