Hi,
I know there's been a ton of talk on this subject, but the threads are lengthy and I got lost quickly trying to find the right info. What's the max tire I can run on 19x9,19x10 for track use? I want it to be tight and snug and not overdo it tho. Don't want the tires to peel off.

thanks.

Yokohama AD08's, Michelin PSS and Hoosier R6's all come in 265/35/19 and 295/30/19 sizes and should work well on the track. I have a set of PSS in those sizes in bound as I type this.

Steve - the 305/650s fit great on the 18x10s with OEM suspension (all tucks under the front OEM spring perch w/o a problem). Lots of room out back as well.

Working on getting mine down to 'track-height' this weekend (15" front, 15.5" rear measured from center of hub to fender). So far it looks like the 305s will fit without issue.

In general I think most brands would support up to 275 for 9 inch and 295 for the 10 inch. Squeezing a 305 on a 18x10 is a lot different from a 19x10 with the lower profiles. I wouldn't do it with 19" rims.

So with say, 275/18's front on 18x9 and 295|305/18's back on 18x10 work?
That will also lower the car a bit too? How much?

What about the tire profilenumber: 275/?/18, 295/?/18 what should it be? 30,35,40?

If I stay with the 19" OEM wheels, I will do (will these run well on the track?)
265/30ZR19 front
295/30ZR19 back

Thanks! I'm specing my track wheels/tires.

You want 265/35/19's not 30's. According to most tire specs 295's are not recommended for 9.5" wide rims. Check the manufacturers specs and Tire Rack has most of the info. Yes they will lower the car about 1/2" as those tires are almost 1" shorter. Getting the front valance and splitter closer to the ground is a good thing. ;D

Who told you to buy PSS's? Crappy tire.... ;D

Yeah, I love tirerack, but it only recommends the stock tire setup. I'm wondering if I can get a lower profile tire on there without causing a problem.

I'm looking at the Pirelli Pzero CORSA's, but I don't think they come in 35 profile for 265 fronts. (according to http://www.treaddepot.com/sizes/corsa.html)

Tirerack won't let me just browse all the available tire sizes for a manufacturer though. At least I couldn't see how, it wants me to search for a specific size... :/

Sure they will. Cllick on specs for the rim widths.

Skip the Corsas, way too expensive and not worth the effort. Plus too many stories of them chunking, even after they have been shaved.

Ok, I found some nice BFG's in this sizing. It will be ok on the stock 302 rims for track?

255/35ZR19 front
285/35ZR19 rear

I couldn't get any other size paring for this tire.

275/40/18 and 295/35/18 would stay close to the stock ride height. 265/35 or 275/35 and 295/30 would lower the car about half an inch all the way around.

Personally, I'd go with the taller tires for aesthetics, more rubber, taller gearing...if you can find them in the brand you want to run.

If you go with BFG you want the new Sport Comp-2 tires. They have factory sizes too.

I've been looking at those too, and I just noticed that their 285/35/19 will fit down to a 9" rim. So they could be run square on the stock rims. And at that price, they're almost the same as replacing the two fronts on my GT...
