Baucom Readies Mustang GT350 for Sebring

Trans Am Series Opener

Matthews, NC, February 11,2021 - With more than 100 starts, numerous top 5 finishes and a win at the Belle Isle Motor City 100, Baucom Motorsports and driver John Baucom are preparing a new entry into the SGT class in this year’s Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli.



“I’m very excited about the Mustang GT350 our performance expectations in this ultra-competitive class” says John Baucom. Racing against Vipers, Corvettes, and even a BMW M4 John hopes to continue to put Mustangs on the podium. “The competition in SGT is intense, last year 3 different marques won races so we’re defiantly going to have our work cut out for us”. “We are very excited to continue to campaign the Mustang nameplate as I started my Trans Am career 20 years ago in a Mustang.

We're on the fence right now whether we go GT with a restrictor of SGT without. We're running the practice day so we'll test both configurations and decide.
Car made 490 wheel HP yesterday on the dyno without the restrictor.

Who's your friend? I'll be sure to say Hi at Road Atlanta! I for sure would believe the TA2 (deigned to cross to some NASCAR classes to keep costs down) and possibly the TA (because GY has years and years of experience in GT1) tires are GY. XGT, SGT, and GT not so sure... After 15 years in TA, JB ran an FR500c at Road Atlanta in Sept and found that the Pirellis needed some negative camber. Hence the switch to an IRS car.
