Oxidation on crank snout

Finally getting around to assembling the new shortblock but it's been sitting for months and I see lots of oxidation. Most isn't concerning me but on a smooth and important surface like the crankshaft snout is this a problem? It doesn't come off with the end of my fingernail so it's attached pretty well. Suggestions?

A very light pass with a fine grit cloth or sand paper should clean that right up for you.

Check for pitting and use some WD40 on a scotchbrite pad.

Don't feel any pitting. I'll grab the cloth tomorrow and get working in it.
