Just catching up on some old news... Andrew Aquilante drove Preston Calverts loaned Boss 302 Mustang to the SCCA T-1 National Championship at Laguna Seca on October 10th..
Driving his Phoenix Performance prepped Boss 302, Andrew qualified second, jumped into the lead by the first turn, and lead every lap on his way to the checkered flag... This marks Andrews third T-1 National Championship and the first ever by a Ford Boss 302 Mustang!!!
Special thanks to Preston Calvert, (car owner) for the use of his car, Ron Davis radiators, Penske Shocks, Hawk Brakes, Hoosier Tires, Ford Racing Suspensions and the hardworking team of Benny and the jets... Ben, Chris, Bob, Joey, Scoot and jeanne...!!! Special thanks to Tireman Rob Edwards who kept track of over 25 sets of tires and wheels for the 9 cars we brought to the runoffs. Rob is also known as Black sheep on this forum!!!
In the T2 class Kurt Rezzatano had our Mustnag GT on the pole and in the lead, but was taken out by a rather dumb move by another Mustang Driver who qualified poorly in 6th place and was trying one of those first turn hero moves.. The dummy took out another competitor in turn one who went backwards across the track and took out our car... Fortunately Kurt and Rich Rigda were not injured...
In GT2, Andrew also won the National Championship, this time in a Corvette C6... Maybe next year we will do a Mustang for that class also!!!!
Thanks for all of the support from our fellow Mustang owners and drivers..
Joe
