There is NO WAY in HELL I would consider suing FORD, its not there fault, I would sooner march on Sacramento and level the place.

If California will not approve TracKey, so what, just go to another state and have it installed there.

This is great news; I hope TracKey has not been watered down just to pass CARB. I feel FMC did a fantastic promotion advertising TracKey but failed miserably keeping Boss owner informed about the delivery date of TracKey

I have contacted both FMC and CARB by phone and email. I got the same bull from FCS via phone; TracKey will be released – soon. I have been waiting 4 weeks for someone from Ford to answer my email.

I talked to Lisa Chiladakis at the California Air Resources Board Public Information Offices. She told me the emissions rating are by engine size and TracKey should not be any different than an aftermarket tune kit i.e. SCT Power Flash Tuner.

Regardless of who’s at fault no one can refute the fact FMC has been unwilling and/or unable to be forth coming about the release of TracKey!

I agree with all the BOSS Mustang Online posts that FMC should give each Boss owner the TracKey download at no charge.

However, since TracKey was included by some dealership when the Boss owner’s purchased their Boss maybe FMC should give us the 2012 Boss 302-Owner's Limited Edition Print.

Below are the Emissions Ratings for the 2012 Boss without TracKey and 2012 Shelby GT 500.

It is hard to believe the Boss with TracKey would have a significant higher Emission Ratings than the Shelby GT500.

You selected the following vehicles to compare:

2012 MUSTANG BOSS COUPE 5L, V8 2012 MUSTANG GT500 COUPE 5.4L, V8

Emission Ratings

Global Warming Score: 5* 4*
Ranked 1-10 Ten is the cleanest Score*

Annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions: 12563 lbs. 13885 lbs.

Smog Score: 6* 4*
Ranked 1-10 Ten is the cleanest Score*

Annual Smog Emissions: 1650 grams per mile 2400 grams per mile

Email Questions:

What is the difference in the emission ratings between a 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 driving with TracKey and driving without TracKey?

Please include the Global Warming Score, Annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Smog Score, Emissions Certification Standard and Annual Smog Emissions for the following vehicles:

2012 Ford Mustang Boss Coupe without TracKey
2012 Ford Mustang Boss Coupe with TracKey
2012 Ford Mustang GT500 Coupe

Also, I would like to know what issues Ford is having before they can release TracKey to many anxious 2012 Boss owners.

Not sure if you guys saw it but TK was approved by CARB...

5 Dot 0

Are you referring to the news release about Ford making an announcement on 2 Nov at SEMA or do you know of another announcement saying it has been approved by CARB?

I am even more convinced after reading Deysha‘s response that Ford is having other issues with TracKey besides getting it approved by CARB.

The Boss with TracKey should have breezed through CARB with a lower emission ratings than a Shelby GT 500.

Her email sound like the delearships will be getting the TracKey download the week before the announcement of TracKey at SEMA.

I hope this time next month we all will be driving our Boss with the TracKey activated!

Below is a reply from Deysha at Ford Customer Service Division. She monitors The Mustang Source. Com.

Hello Warren,

Thank you for reaching out to me. I looked into this with FRPP and this is what I found:

-The plan is to announce availability of TracKey at SEMA on November 2, 2011.

-We are working with the Vehicle Division on a Dealer Announcement that should go out the week of Oct 24.

-We will have a CARB Executive Order which makes it legal for sale in Green States and by default in non-Green States.

-The Boss 302 still has a catalytic converter and runs on pump premium fuel. Our race cars do not have catalytic converters, are not emissions legal, and run on 100 octane fuel.

-The production Boss 302 car meets California Tier 2 Bin 4 emissions as does the TracKey calibration, which is actually cleaner than the GT500.

-Also, SCT Tuners do not have an Executive Order, as referenced in your inquiry.

I hope this answers your questions. Hope you have a great weekend!

Deysha

Sounds to me the issue wasn't emissions, but how OBD-II handles the double on-board tune. It was a learning experience for Ford. The next time won't take so long to clear.

You're reading WAY too much into this. I have my car scheduled for TK installation on Nov. 5th and I'm confident that it will be available by then.

No, I do not think I am reading WAY too much in the email. No one can deny that Ford had a learning experience in the development of TracKey.

However, one thing we all can read in the her email is - “We are working with the Vehicle Division on a Dealer Announcement that should go out the week of Oct 24.”

That sounds like all our bickering, fussing and complaining about TracKey is about to end and the FUN is about to begin!

I am calling my dealership Monday morning.

Hello my awesome members!!

So, great news about the TracKey coming out!! Now, to clarify on the warranty questions… This will be like any other FRPP aftermarket part that you add to your vehicle with one exeption; the repairs will be covered longer than 12/12. The 5 yr/60K mile Powertrain warranty will stay in effect.

If the the TracKey programming causes any concern, that specific repair will be covered for 3yrs or 36,000 miles. This is great coverage for an aftermarket part on your vehicle. If you have any ESP, the same rules will apply.

Let me also mention the fuel changes: You’ll be using 91 octane fuel or higher to avoid any engine damage. Please note: damage caused by low octane fuel will not be covered under the Ford Racing limited warranty.

Please continue to enjoy your Bosses!!! If you guys ever need anything, just PM me. Have an awesome day!!

Deysha

I would honestly be guessing if I answered that question, TheBlues9108. If you do experience any concerns and have questions on what repairs will be covered as they come up, the dealership will be the one to answer that since they will have to diagnose the cause.
