Re: What did you do to your boss today?

Sawed a hole in the dash to install the LS gauge pod. Whew, that is uncomfortable.

I rarely do anything that isn't reverable. Anyway, I'll finish the installation this week (hopefully) and then there will be a full write-up soon after.

Re: What did you do to your boss today?

Yesterday I helped Forceofwill install his BBK headers on his Boss. Making it the third time I have helped him swap headers on his mustangs. lol. Sounds pretty good but its on the quiet side.

Re: What did you do to your boss today?

Please start a new thread on the Kook's shorty headers so we can all keep track of your progress with them.

Re: What did you do to your boss today?

Finished my suspension install. Really pleased with how easy it was to center the rear axle and to set the pinion angle...to what the factory had on my rig. Tomorrow...it's off to the alignment shop. All in all....it was tough but do-able. I'm getting a little old to lay on cold concrete and wrench about my head for hours. The satisfaction will come in June.....we'll se if I've made "Improvements" or made a mess of things.....when I get her out on the track.

My list of parts...if anyone is interested:

Hotchkis Stage 1 TVS, Hotchkis Rear Suspension kit, BMR LCA Lowering brackets, MM Caster/Camber plates and Koni Yellows at all four corners.

P.S.

Obviously the picture is of the factory parts that came off of the car :). Didn't take many shots of the new suspension....having difficulty uploading the pictures from my i-Phone and having the ability to share.

Re: What did you do to your boss today?

Here's a shot that my son took with my phone....I was loading the rear suspension to make sure I had centered the axle. Guess you can make out the passenger side Hotchkis LCA...the BMR bracket..Hotchkis rear sway and adj. panhard rod.

Re: What did you do to your boss today?

It took me forever, but I got the Hotchkis springs installed over the weekend.

Most of the time was spent trying to jack the car safely and compress/remove the springs from the front struts. I love the new look of the car, but I am not convinced I seated the springs correctly. I know everyone stresses on how they need to end up in the EXACT same spot as the previous springs, it was very difficult to have then seat 110% the exact same way but I did my best. The bearing also came apart a couple times, which didnt help either. Im sure I lost a few ball bearings. Regardless, I am happy with how the car looks now. The fronts I didnt notice too much of the difference, but the rear looks solid.

That doesn't sound good?

Well...the instructions warned about seperating the two halves on a flat surface....to potentially reduce losing any of the ball bearings. I dropped a couple on the first side....found them and re-installed. Sure could use some bold texting or stress being careful at that point in the process. But then again....I've never been accused of being the sharpest tool in the shed ;D!

Congrats!! Looks good! Took me six hours to get the front done...swaybar, Koni's, springs etc. The rear really kicked my butt...literally and figuratively! I'll bet I put in 20-24 hours on that bad boy. A lot of time went into the upper control arm....removing, replacing and re-installing back in the car....then dialing in the correct pinion angle.

My only beef with the Hotchkis instructions......the small, crappy black and white photo's. Plus....the front sway bar installation never mentioned having to remove the plastic aero pannels or the brace to get the swaybar in and out of the Boss.

Let us know your thoughts regarding the upgrades....once you had time to put some miles on it.

Re: What did you do to your boss today?

Wayne,

Now I remember you have the springs too!

Yea, the whole package would be a tough install.

I didnt have a problem removing the mounts and made sure to keep it in place. However, I ran into trouble while putting it back together. Between trying to get the damn spring to line up correctly and keeping the center shaft still with plumber's pliers to prevent rotation, the ball bearings would spill out. I really dont care at this point, as I am looking to switch to coil-overs after this summer. The springs were just to keep me happy until then =D. Ride quality is nice, maybe 5-10% more NVH if that. The car does seem more stable and the brake dive is still there.

Mocked up my 4 pt MM roll bar. Will be going off to get welded and powdercoated next week. Then it's time for Corbeau fx1 pro seats, 6 pt harnesses, and rear seat delete.

Re: What did you do to your boss today?

I finally added my hood struts. I went with Redline, though they are longer I like how strong they are and being that that extend out it gives you plenty of room to get to master cylinder and Battery. Where shorter NXTs are more prone to blocking service areas.

Put on new shoes. Pirelli's went the way side for the Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
