If the axles are out why not use the press instead of a hammer. I did the same except for the tack welds while my axles were out last time. (see full post)

This is geared to the S197, but I'm sure it can be applied to other models. I have had the occaision to replace a few O2 sensors on my 07 Shelby. The GT is not as bad, but the 5.4 with the blower is a major PITA to replace the upstream sensors...

Just to drive you crazy, on project superbeater I had all the axles n hubs out, pressed the studs in and then mounted an old wheel on them to insure they were straight. I then tack welded the studs in while the wheel was mounted. Total overkill... (see full post)
