Too blessed to be stressed and old track whore,
I use to cut the strap and throw them into the trash. However, I kept my old full racing gear set from the late 80's due to the fact that I knew it was the end of a dream of being a Indy car driver(I was driving in Pro Atlantic series). The whole ensemble is now on display in my garage. Per my daughters request I have also kept my last three helmets and suits that I have retired for my grandson. (I have three grandsons).
lol you joke but in Europe they don’t even bother checking helmets, seen plenty of motorcycle helmets used for track days. As long as you have something on your head then you’re good to go.Let your wife wear it. They Never check the passengers helmet.

The same thing I do with old belts, find some local no budget stock car guy and give them away. It's better than what they have been running
