High RPM Lockout Problems with MT82

I was good when I kept it below 7000. The ported Boss manifold and throttle body picked up close to 35hp and carried it higher up. The problems came out on the first track day. I had to shut the car off and restart it to get it into gear.
Thats brutal, My problems havent been that bad yet but better sooner get it fixed than later.

I started getting high rpm lockout when i had only 10,000 miles but was shifting over 7000 a lot. 2012 GT.
Then i put a spec stage 2+ in with aluminum flywheel.. i had zero issues with high rpm lockout after that.. used same old slave cylinder and clutch line.

Got a new calimer trans and MGW shifter.. same clutch and slave.. (only 40k miles on it total!).

Since then i get lockout again.. damn. Was it caused by the new trans? the new shifter?

Ugh that is so frustrating!

If I ever get another Boss, I am going to install the fantastic TR3160 transmission like my GT350R has.

I have never heard of an MGW shifter causing problems. I would look at the clutch first, then the transmission. Unfortunately most lock out problems start with the clutch and tear up synchros pretty quickly. Good luck on isolating the problem.

This one locks out much harder than my first factory clutch setup.. it wont even let you grind your way in.. its simply not letting you shift and that pedal feels weak and spongy at that rpm, i agree.. clutch time.

That sounds like a slave cylinder issue. Is there any fluid leaking out of the bell housing yet?

Does anyone offer a built version of the TR3160 that is designed for high RPM? i know its mostly clutch that is the limiting factor so its probably a moot point.
I am unaware of 'built' TR3160s but the OE gearbox and clutch have zero issues with 8200rpm shifts. The only thing that helped my Boss 302 was an RST clutch and lightened flywheel, which was not a super friendly street setup (some 1st gear chatter, bite point right at the top of the clutch pedal travel - which was helped with a Maximum Motorsports clutch pedal stop).

Slave not leaking and its fine up to 6900rpm so most likely clutch as suddenly pedal gets soft (clutch not releasing when i let the pedal out).. i'm going to swap it all out so I will find out. I'll let everyone know.
When you said the pedal feels spongy I thought you meant on the way down. Not releasing is the clutch. Mine started sticking to the floor above 7200 before replacing it.
