As the sun went down for the last time in November 2018, improved my lap time by a tenth with a 2.02.25 followed by a 2:02.24. Stock GT350R on R7's. Top speed 168mph, redline in 5th with these tires.

Finally got a time at Barber Motorsports Park today. I ran a 1:53.56 with same mods (2014 GT/Exhaust/Tune/springs/Konis/275/35/19 Continental extreme contact DW(340tw)). This time was recorded using an Apex Pro

I took out my good old RS4s last weekend and went about 2s faster than expected. They were used for a whole competition season and then some and I`ve been dailying them for the last months as well. 31 heat cycles in total, plenty tread left and not really going any slower at all. I am really impressed by these.

I might be over posting Buttonwillow a bit. Feel free to trim down the list as you see fit.

Nice driving. You're getting amazing wear out of the RS4's.

Thanks Rick! Those are some resilient little buggers. Usually my tires cord between 16-20 heat cycles. I honestly don`t know how these still have rubber on them. Especially while keeping a pretty decent pace.

You may go by Gray Ghost but you weren't spooked going down turn 12 --that often scares the willies out of many folks at Road Atlanta. I would deem your first trip to Braselton a rousing success. I salute you, looks like a couple more trips to RA and you will be a veteran there too!

    Loved your video and comments!

Funny part, with how strong you are hustling that V6 Stang around Roebling Road , there are likely many other drivers stating, " Imagine a World where I keep getting passed by a six cylinder Mustang?"

Mr. Black, you would be super dangerous with two more cylinders! I have friends who run that track and with those little skinny B-Stones , I am impressed , you are really hammering around that Savannah race course.

Thanks for the compliments! I checked times at other tracks and dont quite measure up! I’d like power, but unfortunately i think life after the V6 Mustang will be a lighter car like a BRZ or Miata. I teach high school and bought this as a used rental car not knowing autocross and track were things us mere mortals could do

I have two sessions at vir. On my old re71r autocross tires i converted to track to burn down I have a 2:16.83 and on my traditional track tire, the 220 tw michelin pilot sport, i had a 2:21.32.

    2013 v6 auto
    3:55 w/torsen
    Koni front struts, -2.5 camber
    Bama tuned

On 3.55 gears and the short 18 tires, I’m out of 4th gear at 123 mph. That shift to 5th gets me to 4200 rpm and I’m dead. But I’m in a 3 pt harness so high speeds arent necessarily better? I think some 285/35/18 RS4 are in my future.

    Enough jabber, here’s video!

My Daytona time should be pulling up the rear too. This was with a 3:27 clutch pack LSD and 275/40/19 michelin pilot sport 2 on 19x9 performance pack wheels.

Same v6 Muscrat as above, different differential mentioned here. With taller tire and less gear 4th was good to 145 mph!

    2:19.41

Having run Spec Miata from 2002 to 2010, and a big fan of the Miata, I would still steer you towards a 5.0 Mustang with a 6 speed. With rebates or even locating a used one, you can have a much more substantial machine for what you would likely pay for BRZ or Miata. As much fun as you are having, with your talent you would likely enjoy the change to a V8 -- car still handles like a big Miata anyway. Would definitely suggest a set of wider rubber too, as you still have a heavy machine, though your speed is also characteristic of understanding that momentum is a sterling recipe for speed, regardless of the vehicle.

Understand the Teacher part, I taught 3rd Grade many years back , but there are answers.......

I also look at expendables. 18x10 wheels are $150 each, 18x11 sets are over $1000. Tires fir 18x10 are $275-$315, 18x11 are $100 more a corner. Miata guys are buying tires for literally half what I pay. Higher straightaway speeds mean more braking, more braking is more pad wear, more rotor heat, more expendables... the newer 5.0 is tipping scales at 3700-3900 I believe? I daily drive it too so it equates to more gas on highway trips too.

But initial buy in... a v8 mustang and a new miata are similar.

No argument, but don't forget that more and more groups are requiring a top or rollbar on a Miata, to run a road course. Speed does have costs and understand your predicament, yet you are cooking in a V6 , so thought I should throw it out?

You might be surprised about the fuel mileage , depending on whether you have a long or short commute? Best of luck either way you end up?

With cruise control and a light foot I get 25-26 MPG in the interstate.

Heck I got 24-25 with the same style of driving when I had my GT 350.

    Duane,

Welcome to TMO. Glad to see some more NC presence on here. Looking forward to seeing you at a Triad AutoX or VIR this year. For the rest of you, I'm one of the V8 guys that Duane takes down a peg or two from time to time. o_O

So , do you two wander over to Kershaw to run occasionally , also? I have friends and clients in your area that end up running there ( Carolina Motorsports Park), Roebling Road and Road Atlanta the bulk of their free time. Nice part of the Country to be in for track time, and I guess the new road course North of Atlanta ( Atlanta Motorsports Park ) is pretty nice , also, though I believe it is a Country Club facility?

I ran CMP with Tarheel Sports Car Club the first time I tracked my Mustang. Carolinas Regional Mustang Club runs there as well, I believe. The used to film a TV series "So you think you're faster than a redneck" there. It's a real brake eater with 3 hard braking zones in a little under two minutes per lap. Track surface is aggressive and eats tires as well. Great little track, though. The price is right with most groups, so the hit to consumables is offset a bit.

Duane is more traveled than I. Lots of track maps between the tail lights on his car.
