The Setrab 948 is a GREAT cooler! Ideal oil temps? I think if you can operate over 185F and under 250F, it would be ideal. If you are consistently under 185 (not too likely in a race car but for a dual-purpose car, you can get there), then you need a thermostat to help get the oil temps up to "normal" viscosity and to burn off any H2O that may have accumulated.
