Road America - that's another one on my list. Have fun! I really want to hit VIR and Barber this fall.
It's time I get the monkey off my back. For some reason this track has always had me a bit spooked. You hear so many bad things about the Kink and Canada Corner, but it's just like any new track, always looks worse on paper and then you pit out, enter the red mist and everything's fine. If only I had a "moderation" switch.

Re: Track Time

Well I survived the first session. I am still feeling my way around. My buddy that I was going to follow had trouble with his harnesses so I had to go blind. Started in the back and worked my way through a little over half the group and didn't have to point by so must be ok in the advanced B group. There are some sick fast looking cars running in A. There is a PW Boss running in D but I haven't had a chance to meet him yet.

This place is amazing. Peter's right it could be very addicting.

8) How's the new suspension working?

What's the verdict on ability to put down the power? She still hooked up well?
It puts the power down great in the corners just needs more straight line power!. I had to point a Z06 by in the long straight and he got about 30010-11 yards ahead if me. Within the next two corners I reeled him back in. I started near the back this third session and reeled in two M3s and two CT-Vs that started at the front. In the second session I was pushing 250* coolant so I pulled the grille. In the third session it was up to 91* ambient and coolant topped at around 240 near the top of 5th gear. I pushed it much harder this last session and got down to a 2:41 lap time. Maybe Peter can chime in on where a Mustang should run out here. I have no idea what kind of a goal to shoot for here.

Re: Track Time

I wonder if the Shelby aluminum radiator from the GT350 is any better since it was designed to support the supercharged engine. ???

AC still in?
Yes but it's voters go. Anyone know of an idler pulley for a delete kit?

Rehagen can get you one. I think they are about $50.

Mid America Motorplex
9/10 June
BMW Iowa chapter driving school
Group 2 (1 being fastest of non-instructors)
Temps - 90 both days, and 20 mph wind--HOT

Another great weekend with the Boss.
Several people came over to look at the Boss. Wish I had a towel to give one person because he was drooling so much. ;D
I was the fastest in my run group. Passed everyone, and lapped a Pontiac G8.
M3, Z4, 500 series, 300 series, other imports, even a 1M--all pointed me by. :)
Several told me how awesome the Boss sounds as I pass them. ;D ;D
I finally gave a point-by on my last session. I was paying more attention to the rain moving in than my driving, so I was driving pretty slow. Someone caught up, and I pointed by, then pitted in and trailered before the rain started.
So overall a great weekend. My instructor has an older Mustang GT (vapor locked on his Friday instructor session, so he took it home for the weekend). But I learned the lines better, so he helped a lot.
Best lap was 1:51, 2 seconds faster than my last time at MAM. The Boss is faster--I need to catch up!

Sunday afternoon I learned first hand the importance of a warmup lap for the tires. I lined up in the grid behind an instructor in a BMW 1M. At turn one, I rolled into the right hander with the speed for warmed up tires. Back end let go, and I'm off track, finally stopping about 75' off track. Luckily, it was very dry and very little grass, so easy drive onto track once the cars all drove by.

I'm still working tire pressures down on the NT-05. New Longacre gauge reads 3 psi higher than my former gauge, and I'm running 38 hot, but might be able to drop lower for tire life and still get good handling as Scott was able to do.

Next up--BTA on 20 June. Flying out Saturday.

Re: Track Time

Got down to a 2:40.31 the last session. Rotor cracked afterward in the paddock. Spares on and ready for tomorrow. Cryo must be the way to go since I got twice as many days last set that were cryoed.

Quote of the day from M3 guy admiring the Boss. "We're in the same group, I'm surprised I haven't seen you"

I'm like, um you pointed me by every session and I'm driving a BRIGHT ORANGE MUSTANG.
