Re: Track Time

Couple of laps around Sebring last week. Nice open course with only a handful of cars on track. However the clutch is almost completely gone now, problems started on the second lap of the day's first session (lock out and clutch staying on the floor). I stayed out there anyway and toward the middle of day learned how to make it work. I had to pump the clutch twice to shift and some laps I pumped it several times in the brake zone, doing this would let me make two or three more shifts before it would lock out again. Still have codes but no limp mode the last few times out.

Even with the clutch problems I was able to get my best time ever at 234.2. Still far away from sub 230's but I think if the car shifted I would have got close to getting around a 232 lap time. Some bright spots were hitting 130 on the front straight, 126 through Big Bend before the hairpin and keeping the speed up over 110 in Bishops Bend (not every lap but a few). Hitting 120+ on at least 4 sections there now.

Looking good. It sure would be nice if we had a definitive solution to the clutch sticking to the floor and shifting lock out. I believe they are related. Ford are you listening? Mine will be going to the dealer in a couple of days.

I took out the helper spring and had no issues. But I don't know if it is a legit fix.

It is the clutch not the pedal (IMHO). Even on the street now my clutch will not engage completely. That is cold or hot and shifting at 2-3K or whatever RPM it just grinds into gear.

Could be a bad slave cyl

I mentioned that and I am sure they will check it out. Lucky to have a good dealer here that will go through the whole setup.

Scott I think a new clutch assy will fix everything.

Rick I think a new clutch assy will fix everything.

(Insert your name here) I think a new clutch...

Will that fix limp mode and all the CEL's too? :D

Yes, meet me at Laguna Seca the day after Thanksgiving with a new clutch. It will fix EVVVVVERYTHING! Ok that and the cool weather.

BTW I haven't had so much as a hiccough since I had it reflashed (not for TK, before because of CEL) AND had a new O2 sensor installed. Pretty sure some of it was the sensor, but you might try the newer program.

Have you tried bleeding the clutch? It takes like 10 minutes and it helped a LOT with my grinding. Removing the spring in theory would help with the clutch sticking issue but I have no proof of it being enough yet. It won't help with grinding and shouldn't help with lock outs.

^nice pic!!!! Which hood is that? your car looks so agressive!

That should be a Tiger hood that is standard on the "S", not sure if he has the CF or glass. I have a CF on mine that I picked up locally from a guy selling his LS. I love the look of the hood.

I did not mean to take this thread off topic but my clutch has been replaced once and bleed several times. Still the problem continues, I felt problems with the way this car shifts since the day I picked it up and before it was ever tracked. I am confident in my dealers ability to help with this problem but they can only go so far without guidance from Ford Engineering.

Re: Track Time

That's the spot that everyone who knows that track well gets concerned about. I know it well and I'll tell you this, he's on that throttle more than any other 'amateur' I've seen a video on. He literally could drive in the GT challenge there and possibly end up in the top 3. Don't tell him I said that though, I'll never hear the end of it......
