Are you getting airborne cresting that hill? So how much faster is a 997 Cup car?
Not getting airborne ,but getting a little wheel spin.My car is a 996 GT3 CUP .The 997 cups are clearly a faster car and also have more downforce, sequential shifters. The downside is they are a fricken fortune to run.Like 2k or more a day to run!Awesome cars if you can afford it.That s way out of my budget if I want to stay married !The 996 cup will cost me about the same as running my Boss 302LS.The start up cost is about 2k more but tires brakes and wear items last a lot longer due to the less weight of the car.Not to mention it is a dedicated track car that can take a beating! Like any good women!(The women comment was only a joke!)LOL
Pete thanks for the compliment!
Boy it's going to be a long winter!

I think wheel spin there would have me drop a load in my car. LOL There's a guy that runs with NorCal Shelby with a 996 Cup car and he's usually the fastest car on the track. I wonder how comparable a 996 Cup car is to a Boss 302S? There's obviously a big weight difference.

Ron
You are making me wish I still had my GT3! Might get a P car again to track out. Next summer my daughter turns 18 and wants to run her Boxster at Lime Rock, would love it if you could give her some instruction. 56's are off the chart, great driving, I match your end of straight speeds but your apex speeds are 5-7 mph quicker. Awesome.

Re: Track Time

BTW - being that its Veteran's Day I think we should all thank Ron for his service in WW1, 'The Big One' ! ::)

Re: Track Time

Steve,
If I can instruct Pete's son ,who was a great (and better) student than his name sake without mentioning any names! I will be glad to instruct your daughter as long as she does not share your first name like the other guy who's name I am not mentioning!I hope that came off as funny as it sounded in my head!
So the bad news is on the video I was driving with a broken valve tensioner. The car would not pull strong after 7k on the tach. After my 2nd session it didn't sound healthy. It was not miss firing or blowing smoke .My mechanic seems convinced it's not serious. So that ended my day a bit short. I lost a 1000rpms in the power band .Oh well! Hopefully it's not an expensive fix.
I ended up driving a friends GT3 the rest of the day. And did some coaching with him.
It took me a minute to figure out what Pete was referring to WW1 .I keep thinking he is using the wrong abbreviations for Watkins Glen! Pete loves to rub it about my ripe old age of 49! Did I tell how old Pete is ?? OLD!!!!I am amazed he can still drive without special plates!

Re: Track Time

Dint worry Ron, we'll be sure to make sure the on site ambulance at LRP has an extra tank of oxygen on Monday. And to think, you now again drive the car made by one of your High School buddies, Dr. Ferdinand Porsche !

Re: Track Time

One day I will...

Consider this: The advanced group had 6 cars in it! For the last session of the day they combined it with the intermediate group and it was still awesome. I swear the El Camino was like a video game. You know, where the car in front of you is sliding all over the road and going too fast to be realistic!

Re: Track Time

Haha yeah loved that El Camino! I think the Vette took his ball and went home when he saw me bearing down on him. That's the most fun part of tracking to me, chasing someone down and eventually passing them.

Some friends going up the straight.
