Re: What did you do to your boss today?

Did this over Christmas. Scosche kit and pioneer head unit. Gentex mirror (genk 45a) with homelink and compass.

Looking good. I might get that mirror soon so I can loose my two remotes.

What's involved in adding the mirror? Is it a stock mirror for the GT?

I figured you'd believe me. ;) I think they're great looking wheels and look even better then the ones on the Ferrari F430 Scuderia they are copied from. :p

I bet those would look good against Yellow Blaze. ;)

I run a 285/35/19 on my stock brembo 19x9 wheels. I don't notice a wear pattern to indicate the sidewall rolling over.

So am I on the rear (Conti DW 285/35/19). I haven't run it on the track yet but no problems on the street so far. I plan to go back to a square set up when these wear down - the only reason I have them is that I got a great deal on them used from a friend.

It's a gentex mirror (genk 45a). I'm not sure if it's stock for the GT. Many cars these days come with a gentex mirror , usually with the auto dimming feature and a compass. I got the homelink feature b/c my wife wanted her garage door opener back, LOL. They have mirrors with also a temperature sensor, but since we already have outside temperature readings on our head unit display, it's not really necessary. You can even get a gentex mirror with a reverse camera. I got mine from e-bay for around 180 new, got lucky. Amazon has them new as well for more like 270. Ebay also has used ones for about 160.

Stock mirror. 1st gotta remove it. It's held by a wedge mount. There's a good video on how to remove the stock mirror. I'd look at the video first so you don't break your windshield accidentally. I ended up using a small screw driver instead of bending it like the video.

The instructions say to run wires from the driver side a-pillar. I ran mine from the passenger side a-piller since it was closer to fuse box.

I used an add-a-minifuse to tap into power from the fuse box. I chose a fuse that did not power the mirror when the key is out. I just didn't want anyone getting access to my garage in case the car was parked outside and someone decided to break in.

Just tuck all the wiring under the cover they provide and under the top upholstery that leads to the a-pillar.

Then voila, done. The ebay seller calibrated the compass to my zone, then i just had to drive the car in circles to calibrate it..Then you just program the homelink to open your garage as directed and that's it..

Re: What did you do to your boss today?

Bought the ford racing front tow hook and fabbed up a bracket to hold it and welded to frame. I only had to cut a small hole in the lower grill.

Added a taller shifter to get more leverage, really hated that short ball shifter. This shifter makes shifting so much easier.

Is that the Hill Top Cafe at Medina Lake? Just curious, a close friend of mine's family used to own and operate it until about 10 years ago. If it is, it's nice to see the new owners have put some work into the place.

Haven't heard of one at Medina Lake. This Hill Top Cafe is 11 miles north of Fredericksburg on US 87. It's owned by former member of Asleep at the Wheel, Johnny Nicholas. Opened in September of 1980 and still going strong today. We'll be heading back out on the 27th for the Becker Vineyards dinner.
