In an attempt to finally eradicate my 7k+rpm lockouts, I had the Spec Stage 1 clutch and alloy flywheel replaced with RST and lightened steel flywheel and new Amsoil in the gearbox to replace the factory fill. Only got about 40 miles in, and yes it shuddered quite a bit initially but it seems to already be getting better. Much lighter pedal and the gearbox seems easier, too.

Only tried one 7500rpm shift and it went in SO EASILY, which the car has never, ever done before. Unfortunately, that triggered a CEL/limp mode which I am certain is the crank position sensor. Hope to get it sorted out via the relearn tomorrow.

Do you just trash the hub or do you press in a new bearing so you have a spare.

Ford doesn't sell bearings, just replacement hubs. I just replace the whole hub. I also take a new spare to the track with ARP studs installed.

If you track your car a lot, the hubs only last a couple of seasons, especially if you are running slicks.

Not sure what it is about the single plate clutches other than the centrifugal force that causes the lockout but I'm glad the RST is working for you.

Thank you, Rick!

I drove it some more today and although I am trying to at least semi-follow the McLeod break-in procedure, I have done a few 7500rpm shifts and it has been absolutely perfect. It now shifts like you would expect a modern sports car to and not like a 1948 John Deere. Very, very pleased.

Drove it again today (75 degrees and sunny - gotta love S. Texas) and I am 100% confident in saying that the RST has completely eradicated the high rpm lockouts. It is incredible how much better it shifts. Let one of my best friends drive it and he hopped in and flogged it for half an hour and loved the clutch, too.

The tradeoff for him was letting me beat on his mint 2005 Evo. I've owned 3 of them over the years and they are such special cars. I need another one to park next to the Boss.

Was nice to have some driving time to kick off the New Year after several days of rain here!

Had to add air to the tires today to clear the low tire pressure warning. Had to do the same thing last week with the wife's beemer. Must be the colder winter air causing the pressures to lower. After that, took a nice ride to keep the battery alive. Near 50F today...20's this weekend.

Finally got my BMR endlinks and 3qts of RP Syncromax for spring service and upgrades. It's too cold here to do anything even with a heater in the garage.

Temps this past Thursday were in the mid 60's!

Pulled the cover, cleaned the engine bay and took her out for a few hours of Boss 302 driving bliss.

Needless to say, a 2012 KB Boss 302 with a few tasteful mods, is a lot of fun to drive.*

Have fun when you can,
302 Hi Pro

Got started on my 2017 mod list. Ordered a M-2353-CA B302R/S ABS module, plus a KM-5136 lower radiator hose and AL3Z-6890-A short oil filter adapter (will be removing the stock oil cooler for the upcoming track season).

Installed the Steeda Comp Mustang Adjustable Panhard Bar. The nice thing about it is I can adjust the roll center right where I need it. I removed the rear sway bar, was only a 1/2 inch anyway. Moved the roll center 2 inches lower than stock. For example the Kenny Brown Roll-Center Relocation Kit drops the roll center 3-7/8 axle side. Now this roll center height may only work with the setup I am testing right now, MM springs with Bilstine Struts and shock and anti squat brackets front sway bar set in the middle. The rear Bilstine shock run much stiffer than Koni's. My JRI singles can match the valving with ease but I'm testing sets. With the ride height and shock valving not being adjustable, Front sway bar and rear roll center is all the adjustment I can get and looks like that's all this setup needs. With MPSS 285-35 on my Boss 19x10's, turn in is swift, no mid corner push and I can get on the throttle when I want. For me, cutting up the car just a little might have been worth the trouble of installing this kit.

I had that same steeda panhard bar before I went to the Cortex watts. It worked perfectly.
Only issue was that it hit the coilover so I had to trim it up a bunch to clear the spring as the body rolls.
