We carry Watson Racing Products for the S197 and S550 Mustangs. We have a freight order leaving this week to Florida. If any of you are in the area and were interested in any of their products let us know and we can save you on the shipping charges. We have 3 bare 4 point S550 Bars on the way. We have had several requests for custom colors (Grey - Red are standard colors) for Customers who want to color match or paint the bar to their Mustangs. Watson did a special run for us. You can bring them to your local powder-coater or paint them to accent or match your Mustang Color.

Let us know in the next couple of days. Thank you!

We just wanted to update everyone that we have 3 of the Watson 4 Point Bolt-In Cage Bars in stock. We worked hard to convince Watson to pull these aside for us because it disrupts their production. Watson does a production run and they Powder Coat immediately in house. Pulling these out of the normal sequence of operations is not something they prefer to do.

If you are interested in one they are up on OUR SITE, we just updated it to reflect the "Raw, BARE" option. We have to time it with Watson's Production Schedule so they are first come first serve. If you view the pictures you can see why they own the market. The quality of fabrication is excellent, again these are bare, and they are beautifully constructed, there is no finishing done to cover up poor fabrication. You could clear coat it and it would look nice hanging on the wall.

You can paint these or have them Powder Coated Locally any color you want, no need to add the extra labor expense of prepping or stripping the powder coat for a Custom Color. We do not offer paint and powder coat, go to a local painter or coater so you can see and touch the color you want.

We also stock the Carpet Kit and also have the Aluminum Close Out panel available. We ship anywhere and offer Local Pickup.

If you were curious why Watson will not offer custom or alternative colors it is for a couple reasons.
1. The powder is expensive, for them to buy a small custom color would cost more than it costs them to do a production run of Red or Grey.
2. For the same reason we urge Customers to find a local coater, what you expect may not be what you end up with (shades of colors vary) and they don't want to disappoint anyone.

I need to test fit things with my HANS and the factory Recaros. The increased thickness when wearing the HANS may be an issue when reclining the seat while having my head angled comfortably. I may have to alter the cross bar, thus the unpainted choice for now.

Let me know if you are still interested, John@Watson was asking today if I was going to order more during their next production cycle. I am very low on them...1 bare left. I can get the Grey and Reds at anytime. S550 or S197.

I have to postpone my purchase a couple of months, won;'t be tracking the car anytime soon I'm afraid :(

Maybe it was karma that my car had engine issues on the way to the Mid-America Ford meet at Hallett. An unfortunate 350 owner put their car on its lid.

Getting too hot for track days here now, so I need to finish the rollbar/harness install for fall.

That's not good. I hope it wasn't a TMO member.

The incident didn't look too bad for getting upside down, went in to tire stack at an angle I think. The car has many body panels damaged but not violently. The roof though is messed up...so that gets real pricey I would imagine.

Hallett really doesn't have walls, it has rows of interlocking tires. This spot is a good distance from the track surface. Texas car, red, white stripes. I know the name but I'm not going to say as I don't know the guy personally and don't know the cause.

I've had to go off there myself when a Porsche I was racing lifted for no reason when I was right on his tail... It was spin or hit him... There's a lot of run off there so some serious entry speed had to be involved.

Mark, no problem. There are only a couple situations where it's ok to post photos or names and specifics of track day crashes:

1. The person involved gives specific permission to do so or posts the info themselves
2. They have publicly posted it elsewhere and you're sharing on TMO

What is nice to know in accidents is if something broke on the car or some other safety concern that might help others. Otherwise we'll leave all of the rest to social media. ;)
