The 2014-15 Z/28 *defined* the market that the 350R is now filling. The Z/28 was a low production 100% track focused car with the biggest front tires ever put on a production car, a dry sump naturally aspirated V8 that was in no other Camaro, radical weight loss surgery, and a completely unique suspension. It roasted the Boss 302 Laguna Seca in every track test ever. The Z/28 was the benchmark for the 350R, and the 350R is now the benchmark for the next Z/28. They are targeting the exact same market segment which is why the first thing Motor Trend did was run a comparison between the 2015 Z/28 and the 2016 GT350R.

"Roasted" the LS? Not really. Faster lap times yes. Roasted, no. And the stock track time differences..for the fact it has 305 Trofeo's, superior suspension stock and more power certainly not worth the price difference IMHO. $10,000.00 in suspension and wheel and tire mods puts the LS is right there with the Z28. Z28 was $75K list. Boss LS was $50K list. That was quite a delta difference in price. The Z28 was built to exceed the Boss which was a bench mark in 2012/13. Remember the LS was running is some heady company including C6 Z06, R8s', 2007 to 2010 911 GT3's, 991 911S, SLS AMG, ZR1, ZL1 at Leguna Seca. It was the Z28's target.

Does anyone have the total production figures for the Z28? I would think there are less Leguna Secas.

Track times for Laguna Seca. Z28 1:37.8; Boss LS 1:39.5. Further the C7 Sting Ray at Willow Springs 1:24.5. Boss LS 1:26.1. I would say the Sting Ray is likely as fast as the Z28 at Willow Springs. Those time are also easily within the range of putting the LS ahead based on driver.

Reinforces in my view why the Boss was the high water mark for the S197 and bench mark/watershed performance car at that time which put a bulls eye on its back immediately.
