The top is a ceramic-silver powdercoat (cerakote), the bottom is just canned silver spray.

I like the silver a lot though that I might swing the painter this way. There's been plenty of discussion about what will happen (multicolor options, etc), but I hope to land on something simple and elegant.

So what's the with white stuff and the hammer?
Are you freezing the sound dead with dry ice and bamming it with a dead blow hammer? Is that what's going on here?
Pure Genius. Way cleaner than warming it up with a torch and scraping....

You have put your heart and soul into this project with limited funds. this shows your desire.
Keep up the great work. Your getting close to being able to drive it. I didn't what to say complete because a true race car is never complete.
as they say: a build in progress.
good luck and hope to read about your next phase completed on your Car.

Played hooky from work a bit and made a lot of progress in paint prep. 12 hours of sanding, scrubbing, vacuuming, etc it's ready to taped and rolled into the booth. Also did some prep work on the electrical, installed a moroso overflow bottle, and changed some through bolts to riv but inserts in the body.

So there's a possibility I can take the car home this upcoming week. Once paint is in and glass is on, it's just a matter of playing with some large scale Legos and should be in business soon.

There's still a great lot of bodywork to be done still but I'm hopeful it all goes smoothly (pun)

For the record, scrubbing and sanding with solvents to get every bit of shine, pipe prep and removal of every last bit of butyl sucks to an incredible degree. We have something like 2 full weeks of man hours into that

Another incremental update:

Car's prepped for paint, and in line for the booth. I've had to go back and re-purchase some lost parts: headlight switch, infocenter switch (since I don't have the abs controller yet that renders that useless), brake MC locking pin, and turn signal stalk. I have the key cylinder and housing with plug, does anyone know if there's anything else in the column I'm forgetting? I can't tell outside the clockspring in diagrams. Looks like some fuel jugs are also on the list of MIA/pending replacement.

All just part of what happens with a year long project that's moved locations 4 times during that period.

Any little progress is good!

I recently purchased some VP racing 5 gallon fuel jugs. I found the best deals on autoplicity.com
Their search engine kind of blows so here's a link of the best keyword search that returns fuel jugs, so be patient. Also, when you first visit the site, a pop-up comes up asking for your email for a 20% off shipping code. I can't find the code or I'd share!

I think it came out to around ~$26ea shipped, ~$23ea w/o shipping. Some colors are cheaper than others... supply/demand I guess.

I might just take you up on that, I might need use of one to get it from the paint shop to home to continue the build in the next week.

Picked up some more watson bits today:

Trunk bumpers for big wing'ed decklids, fuel pump blockoff plates, and a odb2 plate

I should mention that the fuel rail supply line fitting needs a special removal ring tool to unclips the fuel line fitting.
