Lubing wheel studs?

I actually use a battery terminal brush on my wheel studs to clean them up. Not a perfect but it works pretty good. Haven't used any lube on them and don't really seem to need any.

I lubed my studs on old cars with a bit of lube. The metals of yesterday tended to rust and not allow good torque wrench settings.

I think the new stud/lug nut tech is better so I would keep 'em stock.
In years gone by, you probably didn't recreate the factory torque setting as well as you thought you did. But at least the rust helped prevent the lug nuts from loosening. Newer studs/lug nuts don't seem to be quite as good in that respect, especially after a few remove/replace/retorque cycles.
