Went back to Willow Springs last weekend after hearing about the news of the sale. At the time it seemed the track's future was uncertain so I signed up.
I now know that Singer will be part owner and that it will remain a public venue (It is a CA point of historical interest but rules aren't a thing these days).

Anyhoo, a friend organized the event through Racing for ALS and it is a benefit for fallen LEO's and this was it's 4th year. It was a great time for a great cause!

I beat my old PB by ~5.5 seconds, hit 130+ in the straight and sustained 110 through turn 8.

Was hoping to make that event and just could not get things caught up. It was not in the cards no matter what as we were hit by large hail and tornadoes ( just South of us by 3-4 miles ) and my trailer roof got hammered. The sides , front and rear had almost no damage as it came straight down. How did you do, Stan, and what was your impression of the new pavement.

We ran the private track day on friday to learn the circuit. The new surface was nice in the dry on Friday. Still has many bumps and cambers to adjust for though, but the car worked very well, got down to a low 1:21.2 in the 3rd session without much risk.
They have repaved the corners, but just resealed the straights - this caused big challenges for the TT saturday.
Steady wet with intermittent during the Sat. TT, I ended up 2nd in my class, but was struggling with my oem michelin ps4s as rain tires (3yrs old).
Grip was modest, but the car would not accelerate at all without snapping sideways, even on the straightaways. I learned that I need some fresh continental ECS02's to have a chance in the wet. They had much more grip on my friends gt350 and C6 Z06 as they ran away from field.

In the interests of keeping @Bill Pemberton happy, he has only had to wait 2 years, here is my fastest lap of day 1. It a very fast flowing and undulating track especially here in Australia.
The map on the video is the wrong circuit, still trying to work out the Smarty cam as the data file has the right track layout.
