Saw some of your last postings regarding little free tyme and the struggle to get Lorraine back on the road. With your daughter’s school having started (congratulations to her!) and cool weather ahead, hopefully you will be able to return to your garage if for nothing other than a cool drink and to look at the great mechanical work you have done thus far. If I can help, give a shout

Hello old friends. Yes, I'm still alive and kicking and although I retired and unretired and will soon again be retired (okay maybe a bit of consulting) I think I have finally found what was wrong with Sweet Lorraine. After having several dealerships and race mechanics look at it, it seems the issue might just be the Freaking Instrument Control Panel. Apparently it is losing communication intermittently and goes dead. They are about 90% sure this is why the car runs fine but after running for a short period it short circuits. Of course the parts has been discontinued and despite all the spares I have for the Boss, this ain't one of them. I'm currently looking into getting it repaired which is doable. I have much work to do but hope to have Sweet Lorraine running out on the range in the next month or two.

Great to see you back Tyme. Hopefully, it is just the cluster (I assume that is what you are referencing when you said Instrument Control Panel). Whether a fix or a replacement from a wrecked unit, it can be done :) It will be good to see you and Lorraine roaming the front range again.

A little update. First cluster repair failed. Took it back out again and sent it to another. Circuit Board Medic resoldered all the connection and cleaned everything else up. Reinstalled and first indications are quite positive. Ran the car for 45 minutes and no issues so far. She started right up after reaching normal operating temperature. I have a trip to Nebraska for my lovely Wenches family reunion this long weekend and after I get back, I'll put Sweet Lorraine through the paces and see if this did the trick.

Apologies for the belated comment, just now sat down to read and absorb your entire thread,

but I'm old and full of s..useless trivia;
one, not-so-useless item opportunity:
"Sweeet Lo-rraine." An early MASH tv series episode, with a home filmreel of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake's wife, "Lorraine". After a gathering of cast to view it, Henry wistfully notes "sweeeet Lo-rraine".

(Pilot episode noted her as "Mildred." Resurrected that one for Harry Morgan.
'Sweeet Mildred' lacks the right vibe, dontchathink?)

Onward to your blog. Thank you!

I'm not overly familiar with that episode but will have to look it up.

UPDATE: Totally unrelated to the other issue which seems to be fixed, the car is throwing the dreaded P0442 code... again. Going to have to replace the EVAP line to the canister AGAIN. Apparently my repair job last tyme to prevent the hose from contacting the exhaust pipe has failed... AGAIN.
